Thread: Why the Dev's won't give us the rules for Vis.

Simple...because if we all knew the definitive rules, most of us would be able to avoid visibilty completely. And that would upset those BH people.

After reading this post it seems that anything that consumes or modifies force will generate Vis within a 32m radius.

As a new Jedi, I'm in a good position to test this as I currently should have no vis or very little vis. I'll make sure not to use or modify my force bar (other than normal regen) within 32m of an un-grouped player/npc/droid etc, and I'll see if I get a visit from a BH. No visit = confirmation.

I was never hunted by a BH in the 6 months it took me to grind Jedi, by making sure I never used force within 32m.I had a couple of close calls with a crackdown squad trying to land right next me though!

As it always has been too. If we knew the exact workings of Vis, you can bet your last dollar that someone would find a way to exploit it. Perhaps that is why they will not share the data with us?

a) It is known for sure that attacking NPCs or non-grouped players gives visibility - this means that participating in any type of high-end content in SWG will cause a Jedi to be on the terms. Devs dont need to hide the rules and hope for Jedi to run into a visibility trap so BHs can hunt them. Most Jedi know that they will be on the terms after an action they are about to carry out, and they carry out that action anyway.

b) Not getting a BH visit is not a proof of not being on the terms technically. You might not be on the terms, you might be on the terms but no BH picked your mission, you might be on the terms, a BH picked your mission but dropped it after seeing you +Cloak+ or Force Run with +99 TN.

They don't need to tell us the exact rules. You follow the simple suggestions that have already been given by the countless Jedi who have experimented with visibility and you'll be fine. I had only 2 BH attack me before I completed my template. I know a few others that never saw a BH until their template was complete.

I will give you a hint. If your in a spin group in an area where NPCs (not animals) spawn, you will be getting visibility. If you are activating a power, equipping a saber, (anything that would normally require you to hit a F-key to use) within 32m of someone not in your group you will get visibility.

Stop pretending your mistakes are the Dev's or BH's fault.

Thanks Leiowyn, That's very useful.

And thanks to all the replies from everyone else too. I guess it's just too hard to prove the Vis rules with 100% certainty. I think I'll err on the side of caution until I get strong enough to hold my own against a BH.

I suppose when I'm full temp I won't care about vis or will even seek it, just like most other full temps.
