Heading out into the wilds, tracking down prey and dispatching them for their hide/bones/meat does sound inviting, but does Master Ranger give a significant improvment in this over Scout 4340 ?
Not nearly enough.
Are traps actually worthwhile? Yes Can they be used against NPCsas well ascreatures ? I wish
A lot of the time I'm on at different times to the rest of my PA (natural grouping partners), would a Master Ranger's skills be in demand from other groups?
TBH most rangers prefer to solo hunt, or hunt only with other rangers.
Or would Master Rifles, Master Ranger at least let me bring in good stacks of resources off lower level creatures? say lvl 50 creatures (max lvl on Naboo) for instance if I was grouped with my harvesting Droid?
Master Rifleman/Master Ranger (CL80) could get level 82 missions on Naboo last time I looked. Still, level 50 gives about 300+ units per harvest. Just don't expect any XP.
Hmm,
I've had another think. I may go Master Rifles, Master Scout, Ranger 0040, Pistols 0003 (stopping shot), Novice medic.
I think this should still give me decent creature harvest bonuses, although to be honest I'm still fairly tempted by Master Rifles Master Ranger.
I've read some pretty encouraging threads on this board as well as some effectively saying "Master Ranger is a waste of points".
Now I've not frequented these boards long enough to know who's talking sense and who's just sounding off so any guidance would be appreciated ![]()
As a long time Master rifles/Master Ranger, I can tell you the template is working very well post CU despite all the bugs. If you review this forum you will see that being a Ranger for a lot of folks is more about the gameplay experience instead of being uber. Harvesting is a great way to earn some XP and even when you don't get the XP from lower level stuff you can make credits by harvesting.
Few other professions like Ranger have so many folks who stay with it and that should tell you something right there.

I'm Master of Ranger and Rifleman, I haven't respec'd to anything else yet.My experience has been that the best ability of the rifleman, to "cover up" is temprimental in the extreme, and you could spend a very long time trying to "cover up" without success. More so, to use one of the rifleman's most powerful specials, such as "Advanced sniper shot" repeatedly is going to really make it a dry experience for you, as most of your time is going to be spent watching the timers "warm up" and "cool down".IMHO, it's far too slow, and it just kills the flow of a fight.Don't take my word for it though, see for yourself.Message Edited by DaveG on 05-11-2005 04:44 PM
If you go prone, don't move and wait 5 sec then cover seems to work everytime at least thats what I have experienced. Same goes for snipershot if I have been prone and waited for 5 seconds without movement it will almost go of everytime with the first shot although snipershot removes cover, i use 2 concealshots and then the snipershot if the mob is still far away enough.
Either you're very lucky, or I'm very unlucky because that's what I have been doing.

I read about it in the rifleman forum and I tested it right away and since then it works, I'm sorry to hear it doesn't work for you
