Thread: Raise us, dont nerf them!
I would like to start by saying well done to the squad leaders, your profession has been in need of attention for some time (as the profession take up list documented) and I’m glad to see you receiving some ‘love’ – hope the smugglers get there’s as well.
The SL changes have lead to a number of problems to other professions – 1 to 2 shot incaps being the main one, and the first thing people seem to shout is ‘Nerf them!’ and I’d like to change that to a shout of ‘Well done, now raise us!’
The continual wave of nerfs is taking this game down; Nerfs are negative, they are leading to the ill feeling in the game and the idea that the game is heading in the wrong direction.
I want devs, and more importantly the community, to start looking at ways they can bring professions up to deal with a problem move/tactic rather then looking at ways to make the move useless.
As an example of a ‘raise us’ suggestion:
A BH with the right tactic can keep a jedi (but all other professions) in a never ending state of root and snare. Many people have been asking for the roots and snares to be nerfed but pistoleers, smugglers, CMs etc rely on such moves to make their way in this game.
My suggestion is as follow:
Sabers – place saber block skill mod in every saber box and not just in one tree. A master saber player will have more saber block then a x4x4 player and will therefore block a higher percentage of incoming attacks.
The result of this change is that a saber user will increasingly be able to block the state and power attacks using their saber. The BH still hits as hard, will still do very well vs creatures but will find that advantage reduced when fighting jedis and in particular higher level jedis.
Powers – Not everyone wants to be sabers so offer powers players a similar system where they use their force powers to block incoming attack rather then a saber.
Enhancer – Provide ehancers with a dodge skill mod. The dodge skill mod represents the way an enhancer can sense on coming attacks and move out the way of them.
Healer – Not so much of a dodge idea but give them a mod in every skill box reducing state effectiveness against them so that a root that would last 30secs on a master sabers (when it hit) only lasts 10secs or so with a master healer. Also provide the master healer with the ability to remove all the states – root, low blow, intimidate etc – but put it on a warm up bar so that the healer can make the choice between ‘I can wait 10secs for the root to wear off’ or ‘rather then heal I will use those 10secs removing not only the root but all the other states applied to me as well’.
Master defender – Give them a similar state reduction skill as healers but at a lower level i.e. a master defender would suffer 20secs of rooting rather then a sabers 30secs and a healers 10secs. Defender wouldnt get the state removal option.
Again this idea will probably get flamed into oblivion so I have jumped into my flame retardant suit but it does give a flavour of what I’m getting at – Don’t jump on other professions when something good happens to them, instead try to find something good to boost us and deal with the new threat.
Sabers – place saber block skill mod in every saber box and not just in one tree. A master saber player will have more saber block then a x4x4 player and will therefore block a higher percentage of incoming attacks.
i realy like that idea!
Good stuff, now only if the devs would fix or enhance rather than nerf ![]()
Otherwise take a look at the link in my sig for other ideas.

Good ideas. I always support ENHANCEMENTS rather than nerfs. BH's have been kicked up in power big time by pub 24. Time to kick Jedi power up a similar notch. Increasing saberblock is probably the easiest way to do it, if you block it, you don't get hit by it.
I agree. I do not care one bit if i can't beat a veteran BH...so long as he can't beat me either. There is room for a stalemate. A light Jedi shouldn't care about killing the BH; he should care about defeating the attack. The darkside is open to a larger debate.
The only problem with "raising" our power is that, at a certain point, it returns to the days of uber buffs when all the defenses were so high that PvP became a bit silly. But, I'll take that over nothing.
