wouldnt it be better if each class had a reasonable range and didn't work as well outside that range?
pistols: point blank - 30/40m
carbines: 30 - 50m
rifles: 100 - 128mTHIS SOUNDS GOOD ALSO BUT WHAT WOULD YOU DO WHEN A PISTOLEERRUNS UP ON YOU AND YOU CANT HIT HIM BECOUSE HES OUT OF YOUR RANGE.YOU WOULD CRY.IF YOU PVP YOU KNOW THAT EVERYONE IS A RIFLEMAN AND A CM.IF IT STAYS LIKE THAT WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD USE ANYOTHER SKILLS SO IF THEY DONT FIX IT THEN THEY SHOULD DELETE ALL THE OTHER SKILLS.
THAY JUST NEED TO NURF IT THAT WILL FIX IT
There is a simple concept that is often overlooked when people make statements like the one above. Lets say the Rifleman becaomes as stated. We can reasonably assume that the Pistoleer that gets close (using the above example) would be wounded. Probably around half. At that point it's mentioned that the Pistoleer would wipe to floor with the Rifleman. One problem with that.
We have professions, not classes. All the Rifleman has to do is switch to a close range weapon. Could be a Pistoleer, or a melee profession. So it still doesn't work. You would have the Rifleman/Pistoleer with a major advantage since he has wounded the Pistoleer/Non-Rifleman.
As for why people have chosen Rifleman it's simple. Changes to Medics (stimpacks), buffs (Docs and Chefs), and the increase in armor (Armorsmiths) have made the Rifleman a more appealing choice. Even though there have been no major changes to Rifleman. It's changes to other professions. These changes have made the Mind pool a much more important target than it was in the past. That will hopefully change in the combat rebalance.
Why do people choose CM? Similar reasons. Longer distance (above the 64m supposed max), damage that is not reduced for PvP, and the CM ignores armor and any defensive bonuses the player may have. They can also target Mind.
The only reason I can disagree with ya Insurgy is this....Jedi are pvpers, anyone that becomes one has accepted it and should know its a PvP profession. Jedi = forced pvp ,and thats a bad term because its not forced. Everyone goingJedi choose to PvP. So the FRS would make sense as such to make advanced skills in a PvP function as the FRS.
