In the era of the rebellion there should be few Jedi. Jedi should be powerful. The devs mentioned (a long time ago) that Jedi should be open to even casual players. What I have seen in the past is just worries about grind time and power levels of Jedi. I propose a new way of maintaining the Jedi population that was inspired by Dungeons and Dragons.
In Dungeons and Dragons there is a class called "Paladin." This is a warrior that promotes law and justice by leading in example. The paladin, though primarily a warrior, had divine abilities such as warding of undead and oracle-like abilities. The catch was that this paladin would be cut off and forsaken by his diety, the entity from which the paladin got his superhuman powers, if he did not maintain a certain code of conduct. As the paladin was a defender of law and justice then his diety would forsake him if he behaved evily or unlawfully until he made amends for his crime. A priest would then reinstate him as a paladin.
Now, applying this to a jedi seems simple enough in theory, but from a programmer's perspective it would be more complicated. Anyway, similar to the visibility tracker there could be other trackers such as the number of times one killed non-hostile characters, deathblows, and other unJedilike behaviors. If the total of these counters reaches a certain number then you are stripped of your Jedi status and are unable to level up and lose all FRS ranks. You are still capable of using Force powers and your lightsaber, but you are no longer recognized by the Jedi as one of their own.
Obviously, the behavior of a Dark Jedi is different. These are expected to kill. The role of the Jedi hunting BHs would be integrated with the Dark Jedi. Dark Jedi were allowed to work for the Emperor for as long as he desired. This was a blessing and a curse to these Jedi who have affiliated with the Empire. The Emperor rewarded well his servants but also was VERY unforgiving of trespasses. Thus, the role of the Dark Jedi is to hunt down and kill the other Jedi. Their status is based on how pleased the Emperor is with their performance. If they displease the Emperor then the hunter become the hunted. They are stripped of their "Inquisitor" status and immediately become hunted by other Inquisitors.
Both sides should be either rare or out of sight/hidden. Even the Inquisitors were expected to operate in secret when using their powers. To represent this, visibilty is part of the calculations for either side. This will give at least the illusion that Jedi are rare. This system has the benefit that the most powerful Jedi will also be the ones most seldom seen since the trackers getting too high will make you start the FRS over again. This is challenging, can grant power to the Jedi without being to influential/disruptive, and best of all does not demand years/months of grinding to the casual player. To make this possible the current 3 week reset would remain because no one is perfect.
What do you think? No flames. I think this idea would fix alot of problems. Do you see any problems that this would create? It would shape SWG into a Star Wars setting and make the game more emmersive, cut down on nerfs, and moderate the population by eliminating those who are decidedly unJedilike.

Does anyone think this is a good idea? We all know the prominence of Jedi is a huge issue.
