Thread: It's not the DEV's. It's the Designer and Producer!

If you’re going to throw blame, throw it the right way. Both the designer and producer have failed to correct the deficiencies in the game pre-cu and post-cu. It’s their job to come up with the vision of the game. It seems that they really tried hard to balance the game with the CU, but the over all vision failed, and failed to take into account the massive quantities of players that want to be Jedi.

So ask yourself, "How do I make the Jedi rare when everyone and their mother wants to be one"? On top of that, "How do I implement the Force Ranking System (FSR) so that the top spots are available to anyone (through hard work), even those without a guild"? Then add the issues of making all of the normal professions rewarding and worth playing.

These are some very demanding issues that should have been addressed during the Planning and Design phases some three years ago. What we have now is another critical situation (Post-CU). Shall we invest the time, money, and resources to reinvigorate the game for a third time or push though and add more content with the infrastructure already in place?

I personally think that reinvesting the time, money, and resources will make up for itself in the long run ten fold. Taking the time to properly plan and design a system that rewards the players will reestablish creditability in SOE, SWG, and the player base.

So far there have been more negative rewards than positive. This trend has frustrated the veteran player base and spells doom for the longevity of the game. The fact that players spend more time grinding than experiencing the game also factors into the games longevity. The SWG experience (game content, NOT grind content) should begin from the moment the player arrives.

So in closing, I blame the Designer and Producer, and ask them, what is the vision for SWG? Where are you taking us (the player base)? And will you reinvigorate the player base by rewarding us for the professions we choose? Please don’t just string us along. Take us for the whole ride with the phenomenal potential that SWG offers. Remember “Star Wars” is no ordinary title. It is legacy that has lasted generations.

I’m an ordinary guy with an ordinary life who just happens to be a big Star Wars fan.

p.s. Some thoughts:

I don’t see why you don’t just give a new Rebel or Imperial recruit a full suit of generic (less valuable than what a crafter can make) “star warsy” armor and a weapon.

I don’t see why the Rebels and Imperials don’t do battle for a complete planet (both space and ground) at the same time, maybe lasting for an entire week. Just spawn an attack force, defense force, and system tell players (once a day or so) to join their respective sides and tally up the total kills for the week and that’s the side who won the battle and now the planet is under their control.

This one time, I saw a Lesser Uber Geek cast magic missile and take out two Super Uber Dorks.

Agree to the fully, but really they are trying to use some time fiing proffersions, as I ses it they are, but you know... they need some Expension Content for Players to come soo those that have thier Template\s OK to do something ... I dont know I dont wish to be a present DEVs Designer... or whatever you call it!

heres a thought....leave well enough alone....jedi have learned to adapt to the previous healing nerfs, the damage nerfs, the elemental damage nerfs i.e. saber damage, and even to the pearl issue...

yet instead of building on top of that, they continue to subtract and nerf. the combat is already slowed to a painfull pace that makes one want to turn crafter and skip all the non sence...and now this to slow it down even further? and not to mention this has taken things right back to pre CU status. only this time instead of the mind bar being the end all be all mod...its become action. the only thing the dev team has managed to do is paint an old house...same old place, differant color.

Developers, Designers, Producers, whatever! They know full well who we're screaming to and what we're screaming about. Ignoring us because their names aren't being called is plain stupid. They (dev, csr, tsr, forum mods, ceo, whatever)could very well tap a producer's shoulder and say "Hey, the playerbase aren't happy with your work. Perhaps you should try something else"
