Thread: Has it ever occurred to you....

Those of you that are old enough to have kids could relate to what I am about to say. Over the weekend, I was thinking about the state of the jedi profession, and wondering what is in store next. I thought man, this isnt what it was when I started. I saw the dueling outside Theed. I saw the jedi on eclipse challenging all the newbies to duel him. I saw the kind of immaturity that often resembles my own kids, and then it hit me.
When my son or daughters get into trouble, it is my job as a parent to straighten them out. Get them back on track so to speak. Well, even though SOE isnt a parent, I think SOE is trying to set Jedi straight. Or at least it really seems that way. I don't know, I could be wrong, but it just looks that way. Or maybe it is wishful thinking that it could be something so simple.
There are alot of jedi. I mean alot. It is like a classroom full of kids all talking at once. One or two wouldnt be all that bad, but when you have 20 or 30 talking and carrying on, then the noise is heard across the entire school. My point is, I suppose, that as a profession, if you want to get better, and more powerful, try showing SOE that you can handle the power that has been given you. If you show SOE you can act mature, and responsible, then quite possibly, they might start giving you more power. As you continue to mind your thoughts, and act mature and responsible, SOE could give you more power, provided you continue to use it responsibly.
And for those who say, well, I am a dark jedi... well, that you maybe. I want to roleplay a dark jedi myself. However, that being said, my quest for the dark side has nothing to do with how mature and responsible I act in game. I can have evil intentions without being an a55hat to everyone else.
Anyway... some food for thought.
intresting theory..however jedi will never stop duelling and the like in the middle of theed simply because SOE would need to enforce such a thing, until then, its glowbats all round

kinda reinforces what I was saying. If jedi want to know why they are being nerfed into non-existence, then take a deep look inside at their own actions. The actions of one, or two, maybe SOE could deal with as an isolated incident, however when you have a whole classroom acting up, you tend to punish the class as a whole, even those who are behaving.

yeah i see your point,i really wish they wouldnt though,i just wish they would single out the bad apples and make them pay,and leave the older more mature players alone

thats exactly the attitude hes talking about
You got some really nice points there but as a fact there are many kids (and adults) playing this game, it would be near impossible to get them to act mature since most arent. Punishing wouldnt work either since its after all a game and everyone want to have fun/freedom to whatever they please.
Still "good food for thought" /thumbsup

You say the reason jedi are getting nerfed is becuase they flash their powers arround star ports and act like neusences . That is completly untrue. Jedi can only get their power back if they do not interact with the rest of the player base at all. If jedi rule the GCW by being more powerful than the rest of the templates then its obvious jedi get nerfed. Ballance is the name of the game not maturity. It is a commendable idea that jedi players act the part but unfortunatly that isnt the case and never will be. That has nothing to do with jedi it affects all professions and the attitude to others.
Having 1000 jedi standing in the wilderness discussing the price of corn isnt going to happen. Having a jedi char deleted because they mistakingly healed a m8 in theed isnt going to happen. Giving Jedi their power back without removing them from the main game isnt going to happen.
Its screwed as we all know and there is nothing SOE , you , me or us can do to fix it TBH.
Its already been proved by SOE, nerf , nerf and nerf again but the majority of the player base will still pay thier subs and play thier jedi. New unlockers will come along and not even notice the difference so they can nerf again. Stopping the imature nobbies from getting the lite stick out in theed wont change that. There are just too many of us about to fix it to the satisfaction of all the players in game.
Solution , take Jedi out of the GCW , take jedi out of the normal game completly and give jedi their own game to play or just make them the same as a M Riffles MCM... oh we already are.

Sure it does. The more "kids" (and adults who act like kids) act up on the server, the more "nerfed" they will be. This, of course, affects everyone. But, yea, SOE can and will continue to swing the almighty nerf bat unless we, the jedi profession, do something about it ourselves.
I would challenge anyone to "be mindful of their thoughts. they can betray you." They really can. You just want to have fun. Sure, but at what cost. The more other classes gripe about jedi behavior, the more SOE will nerf us. Heck, even other jedi gripe about jedi. This is not good for the profession as a whole, and will not get us the finer things in game. Please, take heed, and the change begins with you.
One thing that we have to realize is that this is a role playing game for the most part. Not necessarily the roles of the characters but the chars. we create in our heads and want to be in this fantasy land. That being said, you have people who like to gank and show off and do all sorts of things in this game. I myself, like to role play being a "knight" type character. So when I defeat a bh, I may say something "noble" in order to show him the error of his ways. Something like that.
I don't necessarily agree that SOE should control the actions of any player beyond etiquette and exploitive. But i will admit that we have a dilemna and I am not sure how it's going to be fixed.
