Thread: Palpatine's Most Wanted

Hello, All,

In another thread on this forum, the topic of Jedi being "perma-termed" was tossed out. The idea being that Jedi should be permanently on the Bounty Hunter mission terminals, as soon asthey become a Jedi. While I don't think that it should be automatic for all Jedi, an idea occurred to me: Palpatine's Most Wanted List.

The basic gist of the idea is the following (modified from my post in the other thread):

  • If you've done nothing to evidence being force-senstive or an actual Jedi, the Empire should have no way of knowing to place a bounty on you. I.e., accrue little or no visibility, a mission for you doesn't get placed on the terms. Get on the terms and get killed, you're off the terms until visibility is recrued. I.e., by defeating the ostensibly rare BH that comes for you, your being a Jedi becomes once more mere rumor and speculation, not worthy of another BH mission (just yet ).

  • On the other hand: it could be argued that once the Empire knows you as a Jedi, then you become more recognizable to Imperial agents over time. Therefore you accrue visibity more quickly when using Jedi abilities in view of the public, and the visibility takes longer and longer to decay.

Eventually, through gaining enough continued visibility, i.e., being "missionable" from the terms for long enough a continuous period, you end up being permanently on the BH mission terminals, even if you kill every BH that comes for you. Indeed, the more BH's you kill, the more likely you end up permanently on the mission terminals. That is, being placed on Palpatine's Most Wanted List.

My thinking on this is that the prospect of being on the BH mission terminals permanently might add some incentive for Jedi to return the furtive and secret ways that could savetheir life.

Obviously, to promote activity within the new FRS when it's published, or for other reasons, there would likely have to be exceptions. What those might be, if any, I leave for open discussion.

What do you think? (Flame away, if you must, but I'm hoping for some reasoned discourse.)

Sort of the way some people think it works now.

Thisseems pretty much the way it works now.

A tiny bit of vis won't get you on the terms. A bit more vis will get you on there but you're mission will be harder to find than someone with maxed out vis. If you die from BH you will be off the term. Jedi that are out in the open a lot (PvP) are pretty much perminantly on the terminals.

you don't get removed from the terms when you kill a bh with your mission....and from what I hear (still neverbeen killed)you don't even get removed from the terms when you get killed by a bh, you just recieve a lower priority and the payout for the next bh isn't so good....the only way to get removed from the terms is to wait 3 weeks for vis to completely disapear.

I'm pretty sure you still get taken off the terminal when you die, this is just hard to tell because most people go right back out and get on it again with some vis.

How about after you get a certain amount of vis you are on the terminals (like it is now). However, you still gain vis while you are on the terminal and after a certain point is reached (lots of vis, and either a bh can't kill you or never took you mission) the Empire takes matters into it's own hands.

Also for high-vis Jedi there may be multiple missions (There was pre-CU). So when a Jedi dies and other BHs lose his mission, maybe the 2nd mission on that Jedi is still on the terminal.

I like that idea, Jedi on the terms that don't end up having any player BHs come for them should get some imperial npcs after them. Posting ideas on this forum however is pretty much a waste of time..

there should be a limit of how many bh you kill to get off the terminals. would be nice to clear your name and then have to re-vis. a limit of 4 bh kills clears you, but if you die the number goes up by one to 5 and so on.

Might be different missions. High visibility generates multiple storyline missions on same Jedi. Getting killed will reset that mission but the other one or 2 are still there.

Also before CU, you would get taken off terms and if you mistakenly generated some quick visibility then you would go back on the terms at a cheaper price (25k) at the the time.

The terms might have bugs int them like every other aspect of the game as well.

The last I knew you are "Supposed" to have the mission reset upon death or killing BH. The system message still says so as well.

Only one flaw in your reasoning.

If you were a Palpatine's most wanted jedi, the one the Emperor would sent upon you would be .. Lord Vader. And there, being a full templated Jedi would certainly not prevent you from experiencing a painful permadeath.
