I'll answer this because I did the exact opposite. Time was MP was my only offence, and it really wasn't for me. Let me explain: I like the notion of Powers - it's a great idea thequintessence Jedi - but you cannot win a fight with quintessence alone...

To expound further, compared to saber, the damage output from Powers against other Jedi is abysmal. Also, the ratio of damage:force cost is very unfavourable and again sugffers badly in comparison to sabers.

So, now I'm Master Lightsaber and very happy.

If you are powers, attack the forcepool not the healthbar. Obviously if you are fighting a non-Jedi, then you are pretty screwed

I'd say it's the other way around. As MP + MDef I slaughtered non-Jedi - they were a cornfield before my Powers Scyth. But against other Jedi, especially those with 0040 Defender, forget it - no chance. CHoke Vs MDef = ticks for effectively nothing.

So in my expereince it goes like this: Other Jedi > MP > non-Jedi.

a BH could not stand tall against a MP jedi, with a good saber and 0400 saber.

choke would eat them alive.. , you can kite the BH, and if they get near you... or you run to them.. you got armor break.. and a power hit....

I thought it was common that BH's thought a Master Powers template was easier to go after, i guess its a fairly common among Jedi too.

I know its a cliche, but you have to know your template. I run Master Powers, Master Enhancer, 4040 Healing and i couldnt be happier. It provides a nice challenge, keeps me active in battles. An excellent support template, imo.

To answer the original poster's question, i had planned on a master powers template well before i even bought this game, last year. But, once i gained Jedi and knew of pearl drops, etc.. it solidified my choice to go the Powers route.

Um... how is MPowers supposed to attack the force pool?

Force drain is an Enhancer skill. Aside from that, Powers can neither tank well or fight well... ofcourse that may not matter soon as SWG is soon becoming a FPS for those L337 D3WdZ who are too k3wL for rules-based systems of combat.
