fewtips I'm up to suggest to you.

1)Hunt only with guild members or true friends. TRUE

2)Riflemen and CH are the best friends to support your grinding and they have profit from helping you. Both can support your fight without giving you visibility, both can get exp if they're doing the village life. Infact the rifle has a range above your 32m visibility range, the pets can be sent to 100m. The CHs can send tanking pets and you can hit safe. GOOD ADVICE

3)I know that Smuggler is lovely and Pistoleer is also sweet. But maybe you have to start considering that Jedi is all melee and maybe having TKA master can be of great help for the innate armor and for the overall defences. Don't use your last token respec for this ... save it for later TKA defenses are good but not great, innate armor doesn't stack with jedi armor, any profession will do fine

4)Level, that's where you failed lol. Never drop lev80 because this game is all level base and you can't be weaker by definition than your BH lev80 foe. Keeping TKA master and slowly dropping the rest to jedi you can stay lev80 all the time. When you will have 3-4 4th boxes you will be perma lev80. you need two master elites to stay over 80, you can not stay over 80 as you switch over to jedi, no possible at all whatsoever

5)Inventory and backpacks: it's a pain with only 80 items. With food/spices/and so on I'm all the time over 70/80. I just suggest you to buy up to 5 MSE droids from the local DE. They can stay in your datapad and they have a storage with 10 places each. I use them for extra crystals/crates/...

6)Hunting time and place has to be considered as well. Don't put you on the ride of dozen of players or you will be driven by all the time. You only need 1 mission terminal, 1 garage, 1 cantina (if you inspire yourself like me) 1 starport in the 3k range.

Please don't be the content of those BHs ...

always beeing costructive:

1)TKA innate armor doesn't stack with Jedi Innate armor, absolutelytrue. But the higer one rules, so if you have only 30 jedi innate armor (jedi initiate + novice defender) and 60 tka innate armor for the master, the second will apply. When you drop the tka boxes you can pick def44xx to replace the tka innate armor with the jedi one. Other reason to keep tka master instead of Fencer master is the ability to self heal the wounds meditating and having a boost on the health. For the rest I agree, the defences from fencer, swords and pike are also useful

2)2 elite professions are lev80, again absolutely true. Actually when the CU came I was tka master and LS0044 + Healer 3000 and Enh 2002 and I was lev80. I don't know if it's easy or not to keep 2 elite masters and start to acquire Jedi boxes. Let's say TKA/Fencer is 183SP, right? With the 24SP into FS you have 43SP left. It will cost 28SP to get the first lev4 in saber and you have to get it as soon as possible. Yes it's a trick, but maybe you can work on banking as much jedi exp as possible before dropping regular skills. In this case the loss for a BH job is less. At least you can drop your level just few points ... not to lev61 that's really low. I'd drop branches one by one, for example from Fencer master to Fencer 4044, then to Fencer 4004 because the levels come mainly from high level boxes.

3)About Pistoleer. It's very nice but the defences drop as soon as you unequip the pistol. On the contrary when you are tka master and you drop your Jedi weapon (saber), you automatically are using your hands saving time when you have barely few seconds to avoid adeath ...

4)Too bad you are not grinding on Flurry ...

I unlocked my Jedi, after nearly a year doing the village grind, almost 2 weeks ago on a late Friday night. I was very happy that I finally got to build my light saber. This is something that I've wanted for nearly the entire 2 years I've been playing this game.

I finally reached the goal, and was ready to go out and start grinding again, happily I might add.

I knew that I'd be forced into PVP with BH missions on me eventually. I accept this as part of the game dynamics. In the entire 2 years I've played this game, I have purposly PVP's MAYBE 5 times, not counting the occasional duel for fun. Before the CU I occasionally got forced into PVP from faction TEF's. Not something I liked, but it was how the game was supposed to work and I didn't have a problem with it.

I start my Jedi grinding. I get in a group. As a level 80 padawan with no novice boxes I had little choice. You HAVE to group to get xp, there's no other way to do it. Whether it's with one person (one of my alts on a second PC) or in a 8 person group on tat or on the kash trail where all the Jedi seem to love to grind, you HAVE to group to get XP.

I look on the forums, weeding through the pages and pages of flame wars for advice on a template, and even just how to start. One school of thought was to get every novice box to increase your force pool right off the bat. I'm mostly a defensive player, so I liked this, and that's what I did. 40 skill points and hardly any skills worth mentioning, except for the 500 hp heals. I also find out that my Jedi tunic (robe) doesn't work with a backpack. Ok fine, I never really paid attention to the fact that I'd never seen a Jedi, in robes, wearing a backpack. Not happy about that, but it's a little thing.

I finally get some skill boxes outside of novice. I'd like to go for MLS/MDEF and fill out the rest with things I haven't decided yet. I have 0102 LS and 1000 healing and the rest are still novice boxes. That's 80 skill points devoted to Jedi, 24 devoted to the FS stuff, and the rest in master smuggler with the remains of my pistoleer skill...xxx1. My combat level is now 61.

This is where my problem starts. With the CU you need to group for xp. With the CL system any critter 2 levels beneath you isn't really worth the time invested in killing it if all you want is the xp for leveling. 2 levels above you, you're set with xp but good luck killing it solo.

SO...(and I know this has been metioned before) you NEED to group to get a reasonable amount of xp. Grouping as a Jedi results in visability on the BH terms. This is generally a bad thing for beginning Jedi...like myself, but again, part of the game dynamics, so something I can't really get upset at because I knew about it before hand.

Following this train of though is this conclusion, that if you want xp at any reasonable rate of increase, you need to group, but that puts you on the BH terms and they come hunt and kill you. Not a big deal right? Well...all that XP you were just grinding...it vanishes when you die. Again, part of the game dynamics, but starting to not really be all that balanced anymore.

The way I understand visability is that once you get killed by the BH hunting you, your vis clears and you're off the terminals. Great, guess what, you get to go grind again, in a group no less, to make up all that xp you just lost.

But...what I found out tonight, the hard way, is there's no delay from when you die, to when you get put back on the boards. I died last night, tuesday night, at the hands of a BH. I lost all of my xp except for 4k...which was lucky for me because I had earned that hunting with my alt doing the 2 computer at a time thing. I was staying over 32m away from the alt toon and should not have been generating VIS from what I understand of the system. Maybe I was on there for something else, it's entirely possible. I had dueled a guild BH the day before, using force, that may have been all it took to get listed. Fine, again, part of the dynamics, I understand that.

Skip forward to tonight. I figure that I was killed last night, it should be safe to grind for a night before I get back on the boards. Not even an hour later I get a tell asking me if I'm reb/imp. I'm not entirely stupid, I know that means I'm on the terminal again. I ask him to confirm it, great. At least he's not hunting me, he must be a reb, as my Jedi is reb. (I have to admit that the first 2 BH to hunt me have been honorable in my opinion, the were both Imps and did their job with no gloating, even holding a conversation with me after the deed was complete).

So I get warned I'm on the terms. Great, I've got 80k xp at this point, if I get killed I'm in the negative range. I figure I'm already listed, may as well stay with the group, get enough xp to cover a Bh death, and then log for the night. There are a couple BH in my group, but don't think anything of it because I figure if they were going to attack me they'd have done it already.

An hour or two later, after helping to kill hundreds of dewbacks, I call it a night.

This is where the problems start.

The 2 BH in my group, at one point they each left to go to town and took my mission. (that's not even the problem really)

I say my goodbye's, and head for my bike.

It blows up in front of me.

I'm not a complete moron (I think) I figure they are after me...I turn to counter attack, and can't.

The one BH starts to attack me. KD...I recover, ignite my saber (who am I kidding with THAT?) and run after him. I still can't attack him. I double click on his toon and send a trade request. Great...not useful at all. Meanwhile he incaps me.

I stand up, he isn't atacking, I put on my ubese and equip my blaster, but still can't target him. I ask him what is going on, he doesn't answer. He attacks me, then the second BH attacks me. I turn to try and attack him...no luck there either.

They kill me, I couldn't attack them at all.

Fight's over the doc in the group rez's me. I'm still out a bike, but I have lots of crafters and that's not a big deal.

My 2 problems with this incident:

I couldn't attack back. I certainly didn't expect to win, but at least attempting to put up a fight would have been a good thing.

My xp loss was greater tonight than it was last night, yet my skills were exactly the same. I lost 20k more xp tonight, my 3rd BH death, than I did last night, my second BH death. That's something I don't understand.

As of yet I'm not blaming either BH from tonight. I sent in a ticket to customer service, hopefully they look at it and try to figure out what went wrong. It would be nice to get my xp back also since I couldn't actually fight back.

There used to be an exploit (using duel?) which allowed a BH to attack you while you couldn't attack them. Not 100% sure how it worked but the symptoms sure do sound like what you experienced.

I seem to remember that there should be something in the spam in your combat log, and that the BH wouldn't be red on your Radar is the exploit was being used.

Hope that helps, Sorry I can't be more precise in my recollection.

You couldn't attack back because the BHer's were in your group when they started attacking you. They can TEF on you but you can't attack back. I haven't tested it, but I think if you drop group you might be able to attack back - though I heard some people say that even that doesn't work. Welcome to the wonderful world of broken Jedi missions.... the bug list is almost as long as the wait has been to fix them.....

As for the extra xp loss - it's always 2x the mission payout, so depending upon the skills you have invested, that sets your price (1k for every skill point invested in jedi with a minimum of 30k).

Best thing you can do is find a grind group on Kash. It discourages most BHers from coming after you - since the droids don't work on the planet they actually have to work to find you, and most of the Respec BHers from the CU have no concept of actaully looking for a mark. The safest place to grind I've found was the Avatar instanced space mission. The xp might not come as fast - but you can littlerally grind in totaly safety. The only time the BHer has to nail you is when you leave the platform onto Kash starport and when you are traversing back to your safe house - and by moving quickly you minimize this threat.

Good luck on your grind.....

continuing in a new 'box'....

This is more of an open ended question than anything else as I'm new to Jedi and to PVP.

If combat is largely based on CL levels wouldn't it be more balanced to have, say a +/- 5cl range for BH/Jedi encounters? What I mean is that a BH would not be able to take missions on a jedi more than 5 CL levels below him. This gives noobie BH a chance to go against noobie Jedi. They both get to learn their profession and the PVP aspect of it, and you don't have "padanoobs" getting killed so frequently by level 80 master BH's. Frequent Jedi deaths at the hands of BH is the same as no advancement, and potential reverse progression.

I've been lucky in that, even with the most recent death, the BH involved had the courtesy to wait until I have enough XP banked to "pay" for my eventual death. As I still wound up with more xp at the end of the night, I'm not unhappy in any way as far as the XP goes. I have more than I started out, so forward progress was made. HOWEVER, I'm not foolhardy enough to think that ALL BH will be that nice, or even in the situation to know my current XP level before they attack.

As for visability, and re-listing on the BH terminals..how is that supposed to work? Is there a delay? Is there supposed to be a delay. I was using my "jedi" skills for about an hour (after the previous night's death) before I was informed that I was listed again. A single hour of grinding and I'm on the terminals? Is that how it's supposed to be?

Am I supposed to grind Jedi only on the weekend when there are more targets for BH to choose from? More targets for them means a great chance I'll be overlooked, but even then I can't count on that.

Why not put a delay in the system. After a BH completes their mission on you, why not put a timer in the system, allowing the Jedi some grinding time to make up the lost xp and maybe even enough to gain a box or 2. You could even assign this to the number of log-ins instead of actual RL days.

For example, I get killed, I have the next 5 gaming sessions (log-ins) before I have to worry about any vis I've generated, before any BH is allowed to take my mission.

Just some thoughts to make this more exiting for lower level Jedi, and maybe even Bh as well.

Either one, the timer or the combat level restriction would greatly enhance grinding these professions in my opinion.

I've even heard a rumor that group visability is going to be changed somehow. My impression of this rumor is that a jedi won't generate vis by being in a group, meaning that his group members won't get him on the boards, but any local NPC's or players driving by seeing the jedi in action would result in listing.

I guess I just don't understand how, after an hour grinding, being on the BH terms, from that session alone no less, is how it's supposed to be.

I'm not here to say take the BH/Jedi thing away, that would be silly. I just happen to think it can be tweaked for a more enjoyable experience by both sides of the fight.

Sorry for your losses man. I am fine with BH hunting me but it is just wrong for a bh in my group to hunt me. Those are some low-ball scum you were hunting with. I suggest hunting only with friends/guildies or ina jedi group on Kash. BH's can still come and many do but there are ways to escape there like running like crazy and letting the spiders/wooks attack them. Good luck with the CSR's but I would suggest not hunting with that group again

Visibility, according to numerous posts, is earned when any player or NPC within 32m sees you light your saber or perform a force power. So think of it as a glass of water. The more people who see you the faster it is filled.

When a BHer kills you, it does not tip the glass over and empty it out, it only drains a small portion of the water out. But since your most likely in a group grinding away again, the glass quickly refills and your back on the terms.

In the old system, if you were killed at full price (whatever that was), you were suppose to be relisted for a period of 2-3 days at a value of only 25k. This was suppose to discourage BHers to come after you because you weren't worth it - and even if they did it would only be a 50k loss in xp. A lot of old grinding jedi use to take a death once in a while just to keep themselves around the 25k mark, since most of them could make that up in less then 30mins of grinding.

Now - with grinding the way it is in that you HAVE to grind with groups, just accept the fact you will be 'perma-termed' for your entire grind.

BTW - with the changes coming up with patch 19, your grind is going to get a lot worse....

You don't have to have the avatar mission yourself, just go along with someone who does - as long as they don't complete it, they can keep going over and over again. Though I do suggest going with at least 4-5 other people or mid-high level jedi. 81-84 level mobs - but again a decent respawn rate (not the best). You can get about 150-200k an hour up there if you really work it. Another piece of advice - just patrol around the outer corridors - stay out of the big room in the middle (you'll know what I mean when you get there)

There are two methods for getting on the avatar that I know of - one is the Blood Sample mission that starts with Dr. Price in the tower right across from the starport - the other is the Avatar Destroy mission that starts with one of the Trandosans in the first camp on the left (forget his name, but there are lots of posts on this....)

SInce I was imp, I'm not sure which one was Imp only....
