Thread: The Real Reason For The CU

You know, Iuse to tell peeps, tounge in cheak, that the real intent of the CU was to simplify the game to the point where young kids could better understand and play it. CLx is way easier to understand than the pre-cu system and all mobs are wrappers where the only thing that matters is their CL. Now, with this change, I am even more convinced that I was right. The goal is to make it a kiddie game so that all the kiddies can play it on their parents PC and on their playstaions. Really, really sad. To me, the pre-cu game was complex and that made it appeal to us adults and teens, and not to the little kids. It's all about money after all isn't it. The CU was a disaster, this is an attempt to save what's left of the game.

I find it amazing that in the last year we have had JTL, RoW, CU, ToOW, and now CU2. Talk about mutiple personalities. Can they blame folks for being so dissapointed that they quit. This is a real rip off to those of us who spent a year or more to *earn* the ultimate prize in this game, that being a Jedi. There is really no other way to look at it. And the veteran rewards they announcend do not seem all that cool. Of couse we don't know enough yet to say for sure so it could be great; we will have to wait and see.

Pehaps the CU2 game will be better than the CU game. Maybe things will be funner. Who knows? We will know a whole lot more in a few weeks but just like the CU, it's coming, and nothing will stop it. It's coming, bugs and all. It's coming and there is nothing we can do about it but enbrace it and keep playing in our newly defined roles, or quit. I for one am going to keep playing and hope everyone else does to. I will get over the loss of my uber jedi, heck I have already had to bite that bullet. Uber Jedi died with the CU7 months ago andthey ain't coming back. I do think that CL90 should only have been available to elder jedi, not to all current players. That would have been a real and meaningful reward for those of us that spent a year grinding our toons versus some guy that just created his toon yesterday. That may sound selfish, but it's true. If you give all current players CL90, then give all current jedi (regardless of level) CL100. Give us something to reflect we are special besides aElder tag and a robe.

Still trying to remain optimistic...

Yep, knew I was going to get flamed. How about this. We make CL90 available to players that have over 1 year in the game only. Better, or should their be no real meaningful reward for the real veteran players? You chose not to go Jedi, cool. You played for over a year, you get thesame reward as me. How about CL85 for 1 year, CL90 for over a year. I can think of many alternatives that I consider more of a reward for the vets than giving the guy who signed up yesterday the same abilities as the guy playing for1 or 2 years. Anyway, it will not happen. It will go in as described.

Peace

I agree with you completely that people of any profession that have been in the game for a longer amount of time should recieve something to signify that. However, it should not be something as core to the game as being able to reach a higher CL. That is infinitly making someone that has played the game longer have an advantage over someone that has just started the game, with no way of ever closing the gap.

I'm not trying to categorize all Jedi with this post, but I'm so sick and tired of hearing garbage like this spouted from Jedi. "I should get special considerations because I spent a year grinding my Jedi." Well you know what, there are plenty of people that have been playing just as long as some of the oldest Jedi who are not, nor never had any desire to be Jedi. You chose to take the path of Jedi knowing full well what kind of grind you were in for. Others chose not to. What gives you the nerve to think that your time/money spent in the game is so much more important than any other profession's? It has been stated that with the new game system Jedi will no longer be better/more prestigious than any other profession. So to make the statement that CL90 should be reserved for the "almighty" Jedi is nothing short of pure narcissism. Step back and remove yourself from the self constructed pedistal you have placed yourself and other Jedi on.

But that is what is happening. Everyone who plays SWG the day CU2 rolls out will beelligble to be a CL90 (from what little I read and that is so little it could be wrong). New players, those that start after Nov. 15th, will never be able to reach CL90 (again from little I was able to understand). My point was that the guy that started yesterday is not a veteran IMO (sorry, I know I am being elitist again). It should have been tiered, but that means complexity, thus it ain't gonna happen. I am not upset about being able to be a CL90, and the main point of my thread was not this topic at all. It was just an observation after reading the CU2 stuff as it seemed somewhat unfair to the real veterans, which I assumed had Jedi as most do. But I have not problem with a time in game vs reward system either. The pre-9 Jedi or players deserves more than me (unlocked in April of this year). Maybe the guys here since launch are the ones that have the most to complain about. Me, I am trying to stay positive. I have just told myself my Jedi will never be what it could have been pre-cu. I was a pre-cu paddy with LS 0040 and dervish. I was more lethal then than I am now as a near full template Jedi. So, I have had a long time to *adjust* to not being uberand never going to be uber again.

Thing that worries me most about CU2: 90% or more of the players will be Jedi making the game a shell of what it is now and maybe disfunctional. Where will peeps buy weps, structures etc when only 1 guy in 100 is a crafter. And the point and shoot system stinks. Just like so many other video games. All the things that made SWG unique are going away it seems. Oh well, it's only a game LOL.

Peace and let's hope the CU2 is a good thing, at least a fun thing.

Just another example of the type of Jedi I'm glad to see be brought back down to earth. What you fail to realize in your narrow(me, me, me.....) vision is that those same countless hours you spent grinding Jedi, just as many people spent the same amount of countless hours playing the game. They just CHOSE to spend them differently. Just because you CHOSE to spend your time grinding Jedi doesn't entitle you to anything special.

I am sick and tired of the narcissim of many of the early Jedi, not all of them are like that, but many are... full of themselves. Hey - the road to Jedi was fraught with uncertainty from the very beginning, some had to grind less than 10 professions and some had to grind all 32... you should have known you were getting into a road that was full of uncertainty and certainly no promises were ever made that Jedi characters would always be "uber".

You took a risk to pursue Jedi at that point in the game, and you should assume all consequences of said risk. In light of the NGE, we will all get a small bonus in the way of Elder status, but otherwise we will be no different than anyone who goes straight to the Force Sensitive profession at the begining of the game. Hopefully this will go a long way towards getting rid of all the elitist players who needed to feel better than the rest to boost their own little egos.

Well im playing this game quite long ago and hmm let me say a unique tag and robe wont make me feel happy.Yes i have a jedi but and i know this game isnt only about jedi.Veterans jedi or non jedi must have some realadvantage.Dont let newcommers reach lvl90 with accounts under 1 year. This is the minimum.A fancy robe or tag isnt a real reward(not for a veteran jedi nor a veteran BH etc.).
