Thread: Short macros versus single-keyed commands?
A) Find room on a couple of toolbars for your moves and switch between them? Or,
B) Code short non-looping macros with your favorite combos and have those hotkeyed? Or,
C) Some combination of the two? Or,
D) Something entirely different?
This is also a question i've been asking myself b/c I have a few commands i wish i could do quicker... but don't have room for them. I think i'm going to remap my keypad to be hotkeys for mine.. just gotta do it. =o)
/forcem; so one button meditate instead of pressiing myultiple buttons so basically simplfy everythign down except the attacks. I moved Froce armor/shield/ all enhancer crap to toolbar 2 and switch between 1 and 2 (since you dont need to use these very often)my food is on toolbar 2 and in order i normally eat. ie my pvp foods are lined up so all i ahve to do is press F1-F7 and pvp is the bottom row it helps ekep my main toolbar down to actually stuff i need to use often
I use a combination of the two. I have my major combat abilities on pane 1, my food, clothes and sabers on pane 2 and my long duration enhancer buffs, non combat abilities etc. on pane 6.
Then I have my most important functions macro hotkeyed - for instance forceheal self bound to the esc key, knockdown recovery bound to tilde, dump macros bound to insert etc...
Hi Atobe,
what I do is put a"Panic" button on my 2nd row. this jumps to toolpane 02 and uses all the food i have prepared for a fight (if i'm grinding or pve i replace the first with ranged food for bh instead of melee food for jedi pvp)
that button jumps to toolpane two uses all the food I have set up, then jumps back to my current f-keys on toolpane 01. I never use combat macros - not enough control in pvp.
I use key maps to the Esc key and the tilda key and the 1 and 2.
Just to let you know I don't use the wasd systme but rather the mouse right click system

im also master powers with a bit of sabers, I have all my powers moves in toolbar 1, all my saber specials in toolbar 2, and i combine them with only the nesseccary (spelling?) pvp specials on toolbar 3. and foods on the next toolbar.
So i would recomend making one toolbar thats pvp specific and only has the moves that are most needed or that you use most for pvp.
personally im not a fan of macros for pvp, they can make you miss a heal and stuff like that so i wouldnt use macros

You can also use your numerical keypad, by binding functions to it.

Ill use macros for force aura and valor sometimes when Im grinding. As long as Im not using a macro to attack then they work fine, as they are added to the queue. If I am using an attack macro I find that adding the line /clearqueue; to my aura and valor macros helps make sure they actually go off instead of being skipped because my attack macro starts using attack commands removing them from the queue.
I have found that due to lag, and issues with the combat queue that shorter macros even if you are running more of them seem to work better if you have the right code in them.
