Thread: beginning lightsaber questions

Just a few questions that I could not find the answer for in any of the jedi guides:

Can I create any gen LS once I get padawan?

If I understand this right, I make a LS hilt that has some basic stats, and crystals/pearls stack and increase the dmg, speed, and FC stats?

Can you mix and match crystals and pearls in a LS?

Should I work on LS experimentation first so I can craft a good LS or is it all a matter of how good my crystals/pearls are?

Will I have enough force to tune any crystal/pearl once I get padawan?

Where have people been having the most success getting power crystal drops? I want to try to stock up before I become a weakling paddy

I think that's all for now. I'm sure I will have more later and I screw something up

Can I create any gen LS once I get padawan?
I am not sure on this , but I think so, but the higher gens aretied to combat lvl , eg gen4 to combat level 54

If I understand this right, I make a LS hilt that has some basic stats, and crystals/pearls stack and increase the dmg, speed, and FC stats?
yep saber hilt has the basic stats (damage speed SAC force cost) and each pearl/crystal gives an optional improvemnt to this

Can you mix and match crystals and pearls in a LS?
yep, max number of pearl/crystal that can be added is equal to the generation saber

Should I work on LS experimentation first so I can craft a good LS or is it all a matter of how good my crystals/pearls are?
this is a bit hard to answer as it is a very personal choise , it all depends on your current/target template I would say , some people say go up to tier 4 in the ls style of your choise

Will I have enough force to tune any crystal/pearl once I get padawan?
sorry I'm not sure on this
Where have people been having the most success getting power crystal drops? I want to try to stock up before I become a weakling paddy

conventionally corsairs on lok , they will obviously give you vis if you use jedi skills, krayts after a server reboots are generally good are "good" for pearls though a big gripe at the moment is that they are not dropping the highest quality pearls just good quality ones

to the best of knowledge yes, you can create any lightsaber generation at padawan level. However please note that the higher the generation lightsaber the higher the force cost will be. if you do have access to sweet power crystals that have tuned to give you great force cost reduction, use them in a higher gen saber, ( gen one you get 1 pwer crystal to use, gen 2 u get 2 power crystals. etc...) , you can benefit by using higher generation saber. as a padawan youll be doin very low damage. so use biggest saber you can but force cost will hurt you.

yes you create a lightsaber with basic stats. the stats very with the generation, and quality of crafting items/ and experience. then in higher level sabers you can add crystals to increase damage speed or reduce force cost.

yes you can mix match crystals/pearls when ever you want, just have to un-equip the saber.

NO dont go up ls experimentation first, to help you out grinding i strongly recommend you try to master the 2handed lightsaber tree first. it gives you power hit and armor break, which are important.

you should have enough force to tune any crystal at padawan, however it will be slow if you have more than one to tune at a time. lol you will have to wait for force to regenerate. i dont know much about how force level effects the tuning quality if it does at all. i do notice i tune more better now than i did at padawan, but that may be due to the fact that i have more crystals now. lol

power crystals drop from just about all npcs. high level ones are the most successful. tusken raiders are very good. all force sensitive npcs on dantooine/ dathomer are also really really good. higher level npcs drop higher level crystals, please note that as of now, as far as i know, only crystal/pearls up to level of Quality are dropping. premiums and flawless no longer drop. the quality of the crystal is supposed to give you a better chance of tuning better ( i.e. damage around 100 or at best 120, and force cost up to -9) also note that the tuning seems to be screwed up, alot of people are getting better tunes off of low level crystals, not sure why, it is supposed to be random. ive gotten my best tune off of a premium i tuned a while ago. but lately my better tunes all came off of crystals of fair to good. my Quality crystals which i tune a lot of lately have all been horrible.

hope this helps

i believe all your questions were answered except the part about force cost with tuning. i just got padawan last night and did not have enough force to tune the 2 premium crystals that i have. however, i was able to tune quality crystals and everything below that (with the +250 force that comes with the robes).

yeah it takes more force power to tune different qualty crystals and pearls. I can't recall the amount it takes to tune premiums, but at novice sabers, you won't be tuning any...LOL I think I was able to tune my first crystal at 0100 sabers or was it 0200 sabers.....it was one of the two.

Also, yes you can create any gen saber as soon as you finish the paddy trials, you don't even need novice sabers. You get the schematics to all of them in the padawan progression box and I believe you get that when your complete the trials...could be sooner though.
