In this thread...

... Developer Blixtevcompared the coders of SWG to a plumber who was "just doing his job" having been asked by "those on control" to place a lavatory in the middle of a living room. It's up on the Dev Tracker.

Now, let's consider his choice of analogy... It appear that he is stating quite clearly that the Dev Team are not the ones calling the shots - at least not the coders, of which group I am guessing he is a member.

So he is deflecting the blame, putting up his hands and saying "I was only following orders!".

So who gave the order?

My guess is the buck stops with the Producer and maybe some faceless Director (surely not Raph Koster, he'd never have gotten into this mess).

So was it you, Grant McDaniel, our own Rogue 5 who came up with the current plan? If so, please inform us as to your vision of the future? We have had no State of the Game address, no idea of direction, for quite some time now.

I think we need one badly, since as one of your own coders put it, you have just installed a crapper in our living room...

I don't want to strangle the analogy, but we are actually renting the "house" - however if my landlord placed a stoolbucket in the living room, I'd move out. I think a lot of people proabably did just that (my husband cancelled his account yesterday - not just because pub24, but because of the total communication black-out and the poor choice of direction).

You think they'd leave the TV in there? No, following on in their logical train of thought, the TV is now in the refrigerator...

They forget one thing. All kind of power they think they have..all kind of player control it only works while we do there game and engage each other for ners calls and so on.
Once we get organized and we stand against them there power goes totaly away and we start to own them.
Until then they can put toilets in the middle of the room.

Comparing the changes made in the game to be the RL equivelant of installing a toilet in the middle of the livingroom.. nice one Blix, you just about summed up our feelings too.

A rediculous, pointless shuffling of items that devalues the whole house..sounds about right to me.

Dureena - I lived in a special place for a while. It was made special by those I knew, butclosest to my heart wereEmekaf and Viridian, I will never forget you both /blowkiss

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. MMORPG's need an organised player movement that can suspend subscriptions en-mass when the developers and their packmasters make dumb-ass moves like this. Had we such a movement when the CU went live, we'd all have pre-CU system with toned down buffs and armour now...

Actually the ones in charge arent directors or producers shock and awe. The main force behind change are the following groups.

First you have the pollsters who generalize trends then you have the anlysysts who draw the conclusions then you have the researchers. There are entire companies built like this for the express purpose of routeing out problems in a company.

My guess is that you guys are fealing whats called a perceived backlash. Unfortunately the devs have crumbled to you guys too many times now much more and the rest of player base will scream preferential treetment. General jedi attitudes in this matter have not helped matters. Every jedi I talk to basically thinks that his professions concerns should be top burner when in truth that is wrong its the professions that has waited the longest for a fix is due a fix. In the time jedi got 4 major profession changes commandos had not got a single one and so forth.

What I have noticed is a number of small fixes that probabally will help.

1. The regen rates have been reduced I thought so and other people have told me the same everything regenerates at a reasonable rate now as tanks this matters to you guys.

2. States do not seem to be 100 percent effective anymore in other words less likely to stick. This addresses spam in npc battles and the fact that any player can lay down a perfect combination as they see fit. Not sure if certain moves have a higher or lower incidence of success.

Think about this. Blixtev, Garva, Tiggs. None of them have denied the accusations about the current state of the game.

The only thing they've done is say: (Not my fault!) and (Stop yelling at meeee!)

They know this game has gone to crap, methinks.
