I personally have always liked the twitch based combat systems. With SWG from day 1, the winner was always the one with the best food, and items. Not much skill involved. Anyone ever played world war 2 online? That gamewas the most challenging because everyone was on the same level. If you died, it was because you either weren't paying attention, you were outnumbered, or you just plain sucked. When I first played CU on TC I quit. I came back because I wanted to see what was going on. Went ahead and finished my jedi grind, not much left to do at that point though. I don't think this will "BREAK" swg, but it will definately change it. If combat is anything like pre-cu, or ww2 online, combat will be much better. I'm not down with this whole 9 iconic professions thing though. Always kinda liked the idea of multiple ranged and melee professions. Oh well, all 5 of my accounts are cancelled except main until after launch.

twitched based is one of the few things I agree with about this "new system"...at least its going back to skills not levels...

If it's anything like Asheron's call, we're screwed. Asheron's call PVP is not about skill. It's about Lag vs. Animation breaking/exploiting. There is no skill in it.

problem with a twitch based system is that those of us who are a little further away from the servers are going to be seeing a lot of lag. It's the reason i HATE space in this game, often i have to aim miles away from teh target to get a hit, and often enough when it shows me hitting the target, actually i'm missing it.
Unless SOE gets' some MUCH better servers, I think you can say goodbye to half the PvP'ers out there. With the current servers, the only thing keeping the game alive is that it's not Twitch based. Seriously, my screen often shows ppl 5m away from me when on their screen they are 20m away, can you imagine trying to PvP in a system like that?

I'm sure those of us who stick around (not saying I will) will adapt and overcome just like with cu1. But you're right, it would suck if you had some serious lag...which is why I enjoyed the combat que. Even if my isp hiccuped for a moment or two I would still get off a couple of my qued actions while I was lagging out. Hopefully, my service would catch up in time for me to input more actoins. Not that this happens to me, but I can see what you're saying

So, those of you that like the twitch based idea, what ping do you have? On Radiant I have about 200, don't get me wrong, I like the twitch based idea, I just don't like the ping I have for it...

Twitch "skill" is based on hand-eye, system power, and connection speed. The turn based system at least allows "thinking" players to attack and react on the same level as the xbox kids. Turn based games, especially in a combat system as complex as SWG require quite a bit of knowledge of game mechanics and how they function against one another. Twitch is more an aim/fire/gloat which requires very little knowledge whatsoever.

Pre cu was based on dot weapons and cm poisons and disaese, I fail to see how pre cu has anything to do wth star wars and or wwiionline. pre cu, a 1 hour old novice artisan witrh good armor and a dot lance was insta death. Please drop the pre cu line of bull.

Thats a good point. ping. If it does go twicth based we should all have the ability to do a full server switch. This was not a problem with the current system but could be deciding factor for a twitched based system.

Yep it is a huge fallacy to think that twitched based = skill. I was very good at FPS games and they havetheir place but it is not why I bought this game. The skill is in planning and executing the attack not just point and shoot. I sure hope there is more to it than that..
