i would think it would work the same way as in KOTOR.

this jerk bounty hunter is kiting you all over the place and back. you use force jump. all of a sudden you're on top of him flailing your saber around and he's all 'oh sh....'

other than that...yeah...*boing!*

Actually, they've never commited to adding any sort of Z axis movement in the game, jumping or otherwise. Going by other games that have such a thing, they solved a lot of customer service problems by keeping it out.

Concerning the new planets in the SE, well, the press release was over three years ago. I'm fairly certain that priorities and design changes have occured during the intervening years. When it comes to the new species, they've never commited to any more than two. With the eight available now, and the two coming up, it allows for players to have one of each species on their account, if they so choose.

They need to add more content to the current planets before adding any more.

Have a lot more things to worry about before they can even fathom adding a Z axis or a jump..much less a force jump, heh. So yeah, what the others said. *boing*

heh jump. it took what, 10 months to fix the line of sight bug and shooting through walls exploits. Why add more crap they will just screw up instead of fixing the current bugs.

The main reason jumping was left out was perching.

Jump on top of house and become unhittable to animals (even worse implications for melee in pvp). One way to fix this would be to give every animal a ranged attack.. However, this would make certain mob extremely difficult (krayt with a 70M ranged attack???)and they'd be balancing the game for perchers/exploiters, thus making it unusally hard for someone who isn't doing these thing.

I did some whining about this pre-release and Holocron told me because there was no movement in the z-axis in the game it was pointless to add it as it would not achieve anything or give you any kind of advantage.
