Thread: Lightsaber speed testing

Now I may very well be wrong. But it seems to me that modified speed works fine. What seems to be the issue is the cooldown timers of the various specials.

For example, my modified speed is 1.3 (not including SEA's). When alternating Body/Leg/Head hit I cannot hit faster than every 2 seconds. However, when doing the following sequence, I was able to hit every second:

Head Hit, Saber Hit, Body Hit, Saber Hit, Leg Hit, Saber Hit.

This sequence (in seconds) went as follows:

1,2,4,5,7,8

If you average that out, it matches my 1.3 modified speed. The bad news is that this sequence is the only way I can attack at modified speed. So what I would conclude is that due to cooldown timers, a modified speed under 2 seconds counts for nothing unless you do very specific attack sequences to minimise the cooldowns.

I also tried this on my alt but I was unable to find a sequence of attacks that would allow me to shoot at modified speed (1.25 there). However what I did record which I found interesting was this:

Ranged Shot set as default attack with a modified speed of 1.25
- Resulted in a shot every 2 seconds

Saber Hit set as default attack with a modified speed of 1.3 (and even 1.28 - SEA's on)
- Resulted in a hit every 3 seconds

The above testing leads me to believe that there are some very odd anomalies in regards to how speed functions. I really think there is something not working intended here and I think its a very pressing issue. The questions I would ask the DEV's are:

1. What is the point of modified speed when it appears that below 2.00, speed becomes useless except in very specific attack sequences.
2. Why is Saber Hit slower than Ranged Shot with the same (very similar) modified speed.

I really do think the speed issue should be top priority for everyone right now as this is somehting that effects the whole game.

Nice testing report!!

I like how when I attack with a skill, and toggling others, I can show HUGE gaps in combat spam which reflects the attacks not being performed although I'll display grpahics which register a hit.

Many times Armorbreak will swing, hit and give flash, and NOT show MISS but still DOES NOT APPLY STATE NOR APPEARS IN COMBAT SPAM!!

This randomly happens to EVERY attack possesed by my ROdian with LightsaberMastery !!

My record is a 25 second gap in combat log which does _NOT_ show a single action although I was attacking the entire time and displaying graphcial effects which equates to the attack landing. Nor did it adjust the HAM or display a MISS.

Just wondeful...

I've never heard of that before. There could be serious issues with how the combat log reflects whats happening and that could be responsible for the perceived attack speed issues and the problem you have. However nobody with a red name has offered to shed any light on the issue to help clear things up. Having said that, I can visibly see the difference in the atatck speeds (ranged shot vs saber hit) which corroburates what the log shows. So I do think there is definately something odd going on.

Maybe Ranged Shot is supposed to recycle faster than Saber Hit, who knows, we don't get told anything. All that we do know is that there are some very strange occurances in regards to speed and particularly modified speed and Jedi.

That's intertesting... I'll test that out. It may be "working as intended" because you're not supposed to be able to chain-spam specials.

My favroite is healing. I can heal myself and have it deduct from force/action/mind and add to my hitpoints although it will not show in combat log. anywhere from 15-45 seonds laters *poof* server updates or something mysteriusly goes wrong and adjusts my hitpoints to how the combat log reflects it !!!

This had happened to me about 4 different times in one day. Three of the times I had been using a FocusCrystal, and two of the times I had been attacked by CombatMedics. All ocasions I dropped from 4500+ hitpoints to -0- in 1 seconds without displaying any damage in combat log.

Ahh, but that only explains how to avoid it but yet there is a bug and it needs to be fixed too...

sounds like the time i was fighting a BH and kept getting the "You cannot attack while swimming!" combat spam (even though water was faaaarrr away).....i got incapped, then all of a sudden, i was fully healed, BH was in stasis and i was FR3 about 100m away from him (a combo I had punched in about 45secs earlier) after not being able to attack due to swimming on land..rather it seems i was swimming in LAG
