Thread: Focus Thread: Whining, Nerfs and Flames

This isn't a whine or a flame. I would just like you all to take a moment to think about this before posting your next thread. Virtually every other profession views these posts. They form their opinions from what we say here about what type or people we are. When we complain endlessly about something, cry nerf, or flame eachother, they think we are spoiled brats that don't deserve to wear the title Jedi. Yesterday, I could count on a single hand the number or positive and constructive posts. I am as guilty as the rest of us. So, last night I made a promise that I would try to maintain a positive and constructive attitude while posting...at least for the next week. It would be wonderful if we all tried this. If it doesn't work, then feel free to go back to our old ways. If it does work, we might do a lot to repair our image in the eyes of the community at large. These are the rules that I will try and follow:
- No whining about past nerfs unless I have a realistic solution
- When someone says something I don't agree with, to post a logical and kind retort
- Back up my ideas with real facts
- Look at the polulation as a whole and see how my idea would affect them
- Keep in mind that people have feelings
- Try not to offer a solution that nerfs someone, instead something that adds to most
- Try to not slam someones ideas, unless I can respond respectfully
I think if we all do this, our boards will be a much more enjoyable place.
What do you think?

Thank you. I think last night was particularly bad, I was shocked at the number of posts that were directed at calling for nerfs of meleers and heals. In any case, thank you, I hope everybody else takes a page out of your book, because I know not even half of you are as bad as it seems, its just a small percentage making you look bad.

Dear Dev's,
Nerf tailors! I think it is wrong that they can just sit in their houses and make clothing with no risk to their health at all. Who do they think they are? Betsy Ross?So you should add like giant flying debris as they are sewing fiberplast panels to add balance to the game. Also when they empty harvesters, 8 CL80 rancors should spawn to challange them for the resource. Yeah....

Yeah I try to do that. An example would be me and my brother have made a mod for a game. We tried to balance out every side and kept racking our brains for weeks until we finally added units to every faction involved not just the one I/we liked the most. Now in context if I propose something I will always try to offer a counter-blance to whatever I have proposed. Example would be give jedi 100% more damage than anyone else but -100% less defence than anyone. See where I'm going? Also I dont flame people directlybut I guess I could be more neutral too. So no more begining posts with "Are you crazy?!". Promise.
(Dont flame me, this is a wild example but it will get my point across)

I agree. I see alot of posts where people want a skill nerfed simply because it beat them. Because it beat them, it is unbalanced. I feel that PVP is the area where the devs will never win. The dev team should take a hint from other successful dev teams, and stop worrying about PVP. At least till the other PVE components are fixed.
The devs try to balance the game for all the professions, but fail to see that there will never be balance as long as people have different ideas of what balance is. Just get the game working. Seeing the CH revamp is a very motivating thing. It reminds me that the devs are interested in something besides PVP. Keep up the good work.

I think this profession is working properly.
And uhh P.S.
Not to be mean or anything, but there is probably a thread like this for every 2 - 3 nerfs/whines threads. They havn't changed anything yet, I wouldn't bother wasting my time trying.

And I'm all for that, but I see about 4 of these same topics on the first page and still the Defender thread was flooded with "Nerf this!" till they deleted some of the posts.

Again, in refering to the original post, the objective is to stay positive..that includes this thread. If you just want to flame the thread, save your fingertips the trouble. If you disagree, that's great. You don't need to post that disagreement. If you have a better solution, then by all means, post it. Your statements are not being very helpful.

Bleh, I said I agreed with you. I think the fact that almost every Jedi tries to nerf some temp he isn't is just sad. All I'm saying is don't expect a radial change because the forums get flooded with posts like this. And if I was trying to flame you, I would point out that this is just another whine thread. You are whining about whiners.
