Thread: Discussion: The Jedi Role in Star Wars Galaxies
- The Role of Jedi is to seek balance in the Force.
- The Role of Jedi is to remain hidden from the Empire and bring peace to the Galaxy.
- The Role of Jedi is to seek out other Jedi in the Galaxy to secretly create a New Jedi order to overthrow the Emperor.
These Roles could easily give exciting and fulfilling Jedi content. All we need is the cooperation of the Developers to truly make Jedi an exciting professing to experience.

All things must be considered. As we all know, Jedi were used as Peace Keepers during the times of the Republic. After the call of Order-66 by Lord Sideous, all the Jedi were killed except Yoda and Obi-wan. TO OUR KNOWLAGE. As shown in the movies, Obi-wan and Yoda called a distress signal to all Jedi in the galaxy to stay away from the Jedi training Temple. Which brings upon the speculation that not all the Jedi in the galaxy were destroyed. Many remained hidden.Which brings us to the scene that will support this discussion. In Episode IV "A New Hope," a time where Jedi were all but a mystery, obi-wan and Luke ventured into the Mos Eisley Cantina. As luke becomes pestered by this odd humanoid and eventually gets shoved into a table, Obi-wan draws his saber and finishes him with one blow. The bartender then quickly notifies the Imperial Stormtroopers to the disturbance. This is where the Role of Jedi in Star Wars Galaxies should be derived from. The roots of all the problems of Jedi is the mere fact that the developers have NOT given us a defined role in the Star Wars Universe. Here are some examples of acceptable Jedi Roles in Star Wars Galaxies.
- The Role of Jedi is to seek balance in the Force.
- The Role of Jedi is to remain hidden from the Empire and bring peace to the Galaxy.
- The Role of Jedi is to seek out other Jedi in the Galaxy to secretly create a New Jedi order to overthrow the Emperor.

this was the name given to the seven warriors trained by Emperor Palpatine in the ways of the Dark Side of Force. The origins of the Dark Side Elite were found in Palpatine's Dark Side Compendium, which described a group of Dark Jedi who were totally immersed in the Emperor's will. Known by the title of Executor, each of the seven Elite was believed to have been utterly loyal to Palpatine. Their leader was Sedriss, and among their ranks were Vill Goir, Zasm Katth, Baddon Fass, Krdys Morid, Kvag Gthull, Tedryn-Sha, and Xecr Nist. Only one member of the Dark Side Elite was known to have deserted his service to the Emperor and returned to the Light Side of the Force. This individual was Kam Solusar. With the death of Emperor Palpatine on Onderon, and the destruction of his stronghold on Byss, the members of the Dark Side Elite were also eliminated. A second incarnation of the Dark Side Elite was nearly completed when the Dark Jedi Jerec assembled six followers and trained them in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. This new incarnation of the Dark Side Elite was eventually defeated by Kyle Katarn, before they could gain access to the Valley of the Jedi on Ruusan and obtain unspeakable power.

From which one concludes that they weren't surprised that jedi were around. Beru and Larrs knew Obiwan was alive, and what he was. There were others in hiding, who one supposes, had to defend themselves from time to time.
I would love to see this game incorporate the struggle of the jedi to re-group to restore order to the galaxy. It's a pity SOE chose this particular time in the mythos, when we are locked into a living Emporer, etc. Tough to tell the greatest star wars saga ever when we're condemned to perpetual status quo.

That's a definite problem. They should have made the setting either a few years before the blockade of Naboo or during the Clone Wars. A richer, less polarized setting, with thousands of Jedi and the potential for a whole galaxy of content.
But still, there's a lot of potential in the current setting. They just have to DO something with it.

The bartender called the authorities, true. No one else seemed to give a rat's left buttock that an "extinct" jedi was saber-wielding in a back-alley bar out past the back of beyond.

If they did before the battle for Naboo, it would be a time of peace. No struggle in the galaxy. Clone Wars-the main participants in the war are droids, clones, and Jedi. The current timeline was chosen because it was supposed to be a time of great conflict, even more so then the clone wars because of the vast numbers of alien species that were being oppressed.
Addressing the Jedi's role in this timeline, I believe that all that peacekeeper and guardian of the republic is out the window. I believe their role is to hide, survive, and await the coming of the chosen one who will bring balance back to the Force. Only then will their role once again be peacekeepers.

.... It's the most popular and most recognized setting of all the movies/books. For a game like this that is supposed to draw in and maintain lots of players from all demographics, making it based on a relatively obscure book wouldn't be wise when given the option of the original trilogy. Of course, it's really only the Jedi that want to change the entire game so it officially revolves completely around them.
