Thread: Precedent for Dark Jedi in the GCW:

After doing a little research, I present the following as evidence to those that believe that (Dark) Jedi were extinct during the time of th GCW and the Empire wants all forms of Jedi dead.
All data is from theforce.net's encyclopedia.
-Sedriss
Sedriss was an enhanced human who studied the Dark Side of the Force under Emperor Palpatine, and was later appointed one of the reborn Emperor's Executors. Before turning to the Dark Side, Sedriss had been recruited by the Imperial military but turned down because of his insolence and lack of respect for authority. Palpatine, however, sensed the innate evil in Sedriss, and gave Sedriss the chance to kill him if he could. Sedriss failed utterly, but Palpatine demanded his complete loyalty or else he would be killed. Sedriss agreed to become Palpatine's agent, realizing that the Emperor was a true superior. He was a massive human with spiked hair, and was unfailingly loyal to Palpatine. Even after the Emperor's death at Endor, Sedriss journeyed to Byss to await his master's return. His loyalty was rewarded years later when he became the first Executor, and the leader of the Dark Side Elite. In this capacity, Sedriss was the primary force behind restoring the Empire via Operation Shadow Hand. He gave the orders that launched the operation following the reborn Emperor's death. When Palpatine ordered him to detain Luke Skywalker on Ossus, Sedriss and Vill Goir both flew there in the Imperial Hunter Scourge One. Unfortunately for Sedriss, the ancient Jedi Master Ood Bnar captured him and reduced Sedriss to microscopic bits in an explosion of colliding Force energies.

-Kadann
a black-bearded dwarf, Kadann was the Supreme Prophet who led the Prophets of the Dark Side. Kadann drinks a strange tea brewed from the fungus-infested bark of an Endorian tree, which is rumored to allow him to see into the future. He was also a collector of the galaxy's finest artifacts, which he displays throughout Scardia's halls. Kadann was approached by Darth Sidious shortly before the Jedi Purge was initiated, and Kadann was asked to join the Empire to serve as a seer. When Kadann predicted that the Empire would be shaken if it allowed the Battle of Endor to take place, Palpatine dismissed him and his prophecies. Kadann gathered the other Prophets and fled Coruscant, taking up residence on Scardia Station. He was later responsible for the prophecy that whoever wears the Glove of Darth Vader will be the next Emperor of the galaxy, which is contained in a series of four-line, non-rhyming verses. The leaders of the remnants of the Empire strive to obtain his blessing to make their rulership of the galaxy legitimate. When none of the pretenders to the throne met with his approval, Kadann tried to take control of the Empire for himself. His attempt failed when Ysanne Isard rose to power, and Kadann fled back to Scardia Station. However, he was hunted down by Imperial Grand Admiral Makati, whom Kadann had embarrassed years before. Exacting his own revenge, Makati fired a fleet's worth of turbolasers at Scardia Station, destroying it and killing Kadann in the process.

-Hethrir
a Firrerreo who had a remarkable amount of vision. He grew to a leadership position on Firrerre, and convinced his people that they had to colonize their nearby planetary neighbors or overrun their planet. However, they did not have hyperdrive capabilities yet, so they set out in sublight ships equipped with hibernation beds. He eventually fell in love with Rillao, and they were married. When the Empire began hunt down alien races because of Palpatine's xenophobia, Hethrir and Rillao came within the influence of Darth Vader. Vader ecognized Hethrir's Force-sensitivity, and secretly kept both Hethrir and Rillao as Jedi students. As part of his Jedi training, Hethrir built a unique lightsaber, which could only be activated by using the Force to complete certain circuits. Vader also believed that a child of their union would be exceedingly strong. As Hethrir grew in power and eventually sired a son, Tigris, he gained favor in Vader's eyes. Tigris turned to have no Force sensititivy whatsoever, and was placed aboard one of the Firrerreo colony ships. Hethrir helped turn over his planet and his people to the Empire by allowing the Empire to biologically destroy Firrerre and by giving the Empire the colony ships' flight plans. These acts helped solidify Hethrir's position with Vader as it alienated him from Rillao, who strongly disagreed with Vader's plans. Vader eventually appointed him Procurator of Justice for the Empire, and the atrocities Hethrir perpetrated became infamous. When Vader appointed Hethrir as the overseer for the Crseih Space Station,

-Tremayne
the High Inquisitor of the Empire during the Galactic Civil War, Tremayne was trained as a Jedi Knight by Master Kylanu before being seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He was led down the dark path by none other than Emperor Palpatine, and it was rumored that Tremayne was one of the Emperor's Hands. Tremayne was eventually promoted to the position of High Inquisitor, and had an illustrious career serving Palpatine. In this position, Tremayne was answerable only to Darth Vader and the upper eschelons of Palpatine's advisors. Tremayne had been able to break every captive brought to him until he encountered Corwin Shelvay. After he defeated Darrin Arkanian, Tremayne was disfigured in battle during Shelvay's escape, losing an eye as well as his right arm. Both were replaced with cybernetic prostheses. Afterward, Tremayne scoured the galaxy, looking for Shelvay to exact revenge. Tremayne was given command of the Star Destroyer Interrogator.

this Dark Jedi came into power some time after the Battle of Yavin, collecting six disciples in a quest for riches and power. He was unmistakable in a crowd, with a thin, blindfold-like mask covering the holes where his eyes used to be. Dark tattooes embellish his mouth and chin, and his bald pate is accentuated by a heavy brow. He was completely blind, but used the Force to appear to "see" despite his injuries. He had the unique ability to drain the life energy from an opponent. Before turning to the Dark Side of the Force, Jerec had been trained as a Jedi Knight and was dispatched on a mission to recover ancient artifacts during the Clone Wars, just before the Jedi Purge took place. He returned to Coruscant to find the New Order fully established, and tried to flee. He and his team were eventually captured by High Inquisitor Tremayne and returned to Coruscant. Jerec was trained by Dark Side adepts, and served Emperor Palpatine during the Galactic Civil War. One of his first mission for Palpatine was to obtain the entity known as Spore for the Emperor's use. He failed to secure the entity before it infected Hodge, but tracked Spore to Ithor. He offered Spore the chance to control thousands of minds, if Spore agreed to work for him. Jerec had hoped that Spore would take control of the crew of his warship, the Vengeance. However, Spore had its own plans, and used the Vengeance to try and hunt down Tash Arranda. As it tried to follow her through the asteroids near Ithor, a group of space slugs began battering the Star Destroyer, knocking out its shields and causing it to explode. It is unknown how Jerec survived the explosion, just that he managed to escape in a Starfly and ordered a recovery team to pick up the pieces of the Vengeance. During the Galactic Civil War, Jerec was given access to Emperor Palpatine's Dark Side Compendium, and believed that he could establish the Dark Side Elite on his own. Palpatine sensed Jerec's intentions and cut off his access to the tome

this seven-foot-tall man was a member of the Prophets of the Dark Side. Jedgar served as the High Prophet, and acted as the groups' emissary to visitors to Scardia station. He was a balding man who presented an imposing figure to other beings. Little was known of Jedgar's past, but it was discovered that he had trained at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the years leading up to the Clone Wars, often dreaming of the events of the Clone Wars and the Jedi Purge. His visions frightened the other students and worried his teachers, and Jedgar was never taken as a Padawan. A series of visions led Jedgar to Kadaan, under whom he apprenticed in learning the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. Jedgar also served as Kadann's bodyguard, but that was more for show than actual defense, since Kadann was quite powerful in the ways of the Dark Side. When the Prophets of the Dark Side were formed under Emperor Palpatine, Jedgar became Kadann's second-in-command, and his support of Kadann's visions - even after Palpatine dismissed them - ran deep.

-Azrakel
this man was strong in the Force when he was discovered by Emperor Palpatine, shortly before the institution of the New Order. Palpatine used Azrakel as an experiment, forcing him to experience the full power of the Dark Side of the Force for days on end. Palpatine hoped to see how long it would take for Azrakel's mind to break. Azrakel proved resilient, and Palpatine soon tired of the experiment. Azrakel was recovered by Supreme Prophet Kadann, but his mind had been wiped clear. Kadann trained him to be a living weapon, and to hate both Palpatine and Darth Vader. Over time, Azrakel came to hate Kadann as well, and set out on his own to the Corporate Sector and Wild Space, in the wake of the Battle of Endor.

Correct me if im wrong but Mara Jade was a full force user...... maybe she hadn't discovered her full potential yet by that time in the time frame...

Right. She wasn't fully trained until after meeting Luke.
