Make sure you are on the admin list of the house, you are close enough or inside the crafting station and that the station isn't in the wall.

I used to keep my Weapon crafting station right next to my Food crafting station in my house and sometimesI had that same problem. If you have another crafting station in your house, try picking it up til you are done crafting your saber or moving it to the far corner of your house.

Being too close to another crafting station can cause this problem. Did you by any chance pack and move your house recently? Some people are reporting problems with crafting after moving.

Yes..packing up my house sometimes bugs my crafting station for a while. Usually it corrects itself in a few minutes or repacking it and moving it to a new location will work too.
I made the mistake of using the input hopper and then packing it and the hopper was then unavailable. It came back later empty. Luckily for me I left the house unpacked over night and the next morning everything was back. (I quickly moved all my resources out of the hopper)

Yea its still the house packup that is causing the issue. I had two stations. One placed in the house the other in a backpack. Both were bugged after unpacking the house. Packed the house back up. Moved it down the road a bit and unpacked it and I could craft again.
It might work if you just leave it unpacked for a while too. It doesn't always occur. I suspect it probably relates to unpacking it near a server boundry or something. Cause most of the time I dont' have an issue with it when I unpack it.

Actually I'd like to add to this a bit too. I bought a droid with private crafting station that has all the stations in it (including weapon) and I too don't get the experiment button.
Does a droid based crafting station not work?
Thanks!

stand in the station then double click it. That will load up your schematics. Works like a charm.

Yep Dreacle,
This had been reported in the Architect forum a few days ago. Crafting droids are bugged.
