Ok. I love MMOs. When I found out they were coming out with a Star Wars i almost fell out of my chair. It was awesome. We waited a long time for beta to start. I played beta. Alot of people didnt like the lack of content, but just the raw POTENTIAL that this game had was enough to keep me playing.
Jedi was probably the most discussed topic around the whole game. It has been since the game was released. From the start and for YEARS, SoE stuck completely to the idea of controlling the jedi population. Yes there were revamps and CUs that pissed alot of people off about shooting for jedi. But at least then, Jedis were still awesome. Jedis were still the same way you wanted them to be in a Star Wars MMO.
The number of people who quit the Jedi grind just because it is too hard and long, is extremely high. This means that the devs are doing their jobs and sticking with the idea that they promised us since beta.
Today, after cu1, jedis are everywhere. It sucks yes, but jedis are still a huge accomplishment. I dont think that that the devs understand the mere percentage of people that play SWG for the single and solitary reason of dedicating hardwork and dedication to becoming a jedi in this game. This game completely lacks the content it needs. And it is hanging by a thread with such a large percentage of players that wish to experience the jedi system in this game and to experience the thrill that all MMO/Starwars fans want.
I'm really hoping this is a really really early April fools joke, because if the devs actually go through and implement this, this game is over. This game is not even Star Wars anymore. I have seen Sony do some dumb things with games, but this is by far the most horrid thing I have ever seen any gaming company do.
Throughout SWG's lifespan, the designers and the developers have been on completely different planets. The design of this game is stunningly amazing, this game has near unlimited potential. But what they do with that potential makes me wanna grab the sides of my monitor and ram my head into it. Amazing things have been done to the game to make it better, like vehicles, and then of course a year later allowing more than one person to ride in them. This should have been done in beta!!! Come on devs, WAKE UP!! There is too much potential with this game to screw around.
