Thread: A Solution To BH v Jedi: One That We All Can Agree On
What I propose is a viable System Option upon an engagement with a BH. When a Jedi is approached by said BH a system message pops up "You are being accosted by (insert name) the Bounty Hunter" then you get 3 options:
A. - Engage the BH in combat to clear your bounty.
B. - Pay The Bounty Hunter Off (resulting in name being dropped from the terms)
C. - Surrender (Resulting in 1/2 the xp loss and the inability to use your Jedi for a day.)
Okay here we have options for everyone who currently has a Jedi. Option A is for the full temp guy who actually loves fighting BH. Option B is for the casual player who may have a good amount of credits at the time and Option C is for everyone else.
Let's face it, the BH terms are basically punishment for being a visible Jedi. Many people get around it and are never hunted, alot of people disagree with me on this but it's true, some Jedi never get hunted. The C option, though harsh is an option after all, right now all you have is A and B if the BH is willing to do so (but you still remain on the terms). I think with the history of PvP getting nerfed to oblivion, the BH v Jedi will be soon after. Don't believe me? Ask a vet who grinded his Jedi solo due to Saber TEF, it is changing to a lighter play style which will mean forced PvP gone in a few patches.
Everyone has their "Visions" and "DEVS PLEASE READ THIS" wish lists, well here is mine. I like PvP and I would at least like the option when it is all said and done.

Intresting Idea, but ya RP Bounty Hunters will hate this idea....and I understand why. But understand this, most bounty hunters will get real rich real fast by doing this. Think about it,I would believe that most jedi would choose option B, and pay the bounty hunter, resulting in BH's getting money for almost doing nothing...except tracking the jedi. So many bounty hunters are gonna be tracking jedi hoping to justget the easy 50-200k.
You definitely have a point but Option A. is all we have right now. So with this knowledge, if a Jedi really wanted to he could choose A. then Suppress and FR just like he could now to avoid the fight and the payoff. It is hard coming up with a solution that still allows the BH to get the alpha strike opportunity. I would just hate for this to turn into what the faction war has: Declare/SpecialForces... run around looking for another Declared/Special Forces enemy. Thanks for your reply.

First of all I know this idea will be shot down by the RPing Bounty Hunters who put alot of time into tracking down a Jedi and leaping to the best opportunity to cash in the prize. What I am suggesting however could possibly save your content from the nerf bat I suspect is coming due to the immense outcry of the non PvP player base who grinded a Jedi.

There's no alternative.

If you dont want PVP dont become a jedi. I would be stuned if they took away player bounties, the degree to which this is unlike is beyond reconing i think. There is a big difference between taking away faction TEFs as any one can join a faction after about an hour of playing and taking away jedi bounties. You have to spend a minimum of 4 1/2 months just to grind FS followed by at least a few weeks of no vis grinding assuming your not a complete fool.
If you havn't figured out by then you are a fool and deserved to get two shotted while walking around theed wabing your saber. I have had a jedi for 2 months now and still no BH visit, there arethree reasons for this 1: I'm not a complete fool (sure im a partial fool a lot of the time but im prode not to be one all the time) and can grind without getting gallons of vis. 2: BH's as i am one of these as well have much better things to do via npc missions than hunt jedi, the npce missions yield much better rewards in the form of loot. 3: simple math, with the new vis system low level jedi should again assuming they are not a complete fool stay off the terms for quite some time, while full temp jedi who pvp or quest a lot should fill the terms lessening the chance noob jedi get hit.

I have been saying this to Jedi for weeks, and they respond with it's not that easy to stay off the terms blah, blah, blah. I think it is, as I know a lot of jedi such as yourself who have not gotten a visit from players of my ilk.

Oh it is easy saty off terms. I never got hunted until I was done with grind and I went back to playing the game and not griding. Of course then it real hard to stay of the terms, unless you just want to kill bols forever.

Sorry, but I really think the highlighted part is usually the point of every BH arguement when it comes to Jedi hunting; but by your rationale, Jedi dueling in starports should be no problem for the player base, since it results in vis and inevitably, a BH visit- same with Jedi GCW gank squads running amok, both in cities and on battlefields= it causes vis and BH visits, so of course it isn't a problem, right? After all, they're just "using the powers they have" in those cases too, it would make "no sense" for them not to do those things.
So, it really comes down to one of 2 things:
1) If Jedi is going to be a forced PvP profession, then continuity be hanged- they have the potential price of a BH visit to pay anyways, they should be able to do anything any other PvPer is able to do--- duel in starports, participate in the GCW, run gank squads through the streets, etc. After all, Jedi weren't everywhere in the original trilogy- but I don't remember seeing hundreds of BH/CMs filling up the screen either, or swordsmen, TKs, Pikemen, Commandos, etc---- people in the movies that were not central characters were grunts, plain and simple, if we wanna make everyone "commoners" this will end up being a boring game for everyone anyways.
2) Change the outlook on Jedi being a PvP profession- have an open mind to allowing different playstyles to thrive as Jedi without having their content limited by BH visits. I've ground plenty of Jedi XP pre and post-CU and I flat-out liked pre-CU grinding more.... because I had control over the vis I gained. I got my buffs and solo group, then rolled to the most remote mission term I could find- always 5k + from the nearest shuttle/star port, and ground in peace for 2 and 1/2 hours, dropped missions close to NPC spawns, never had to worry about wandering noobs, etc. Yes, the group grind is faster, but there's always ALWAYS a noob in the group that ends up aggroing every NPC for 200m right into your group, or the groups that have no consideration and drive right through the lair that someone is spinning, or the total tool that stands waiting for an invite and giving everyone vis, or those real nice people who disband and log RIGHT AT THE MISSION SPAWN, meaning either you get vis or waste the mission and go on to the next one.... need more examples?
I am one of the nicer people you will meet ingame, usually down to help someone with a quest that they're having problems getting through, but since I became Jedi- I really don't get to do that anymore, the only times I'll really help with missions are in space and on Kash, so I don't have as much concern about getting interrupted by a BH vis, since oh by the way now 99% of the missions that have any content or reward at the end involve NPCs and give some kind of vis.

Back on topic, as long as it was a radial option that appeared to the Jedi only once the fight had begun, allowing them to choose those extra options, I don't see where anyone could or should have a problem with it.
There are only 3 reasons why a BH would take a Jedi mission- 1) to get paid, this allows the Jedi to bribe their way out anyways; 2) for the 1v1 locked PvP aspect- this I understand the most, but if someone doesn't want to fight- what fun is there in forcing them to?; 3) to cause XP loss- and I think way too many BHs do it for this reason, and griefing should never be a game mechanic IMHO.
