WHAT SPAWNED MY IDEA

The other day I was on dantooine when I drove by a white dot. When i got close, the label above his head said Untrained Padawan, obviously this was an NPC. It was funny because I clicked on him and couldn't attack him, nor could I converse with him. I thought to myself wouldn't it be completely neat if you could acquire this NPC and make him your padawan through a set of quests. Once the quests were completed NPC grows a padawan braid and is issued a white robe.

POSSIBLE QUEST SYSTEM

After you've aquired the NPC as a padawan a new group of quests would open up where you and your NPC would have to travel and do things like settle a dispute between factions, or maybe travel to a town that's been taken over by mercenaries, Or rescuing a child who had been kidnapped by pirates and returning him/her to their parents. Of course as you completed these Your NPC Padawan would also be involved and maybe they'd somehow interact with the other NPC's. As each quest is completed your Padawan acquires a new skill that would supplement your own but on a much smaller scale than a JEDI pc.

JEDI NPC ADVANTAGES

For Example, If you are fighting in PVP your padawan depending on what level could heala state on you, or maybe heal your wounds or HAM Twice during a battle. Or maybe he could rez you once a week or increase the speed of your attacks. I'm not saying it should be like a fully functioning jedi but they could do these things in small amounts like healing HAM for 250 or something like that. Once you get to a certain phase in your quest you and your padawan must travel around looking for parts, metals or items to craft a lightsaber, once that was completed then your padawan would also be able to attack a target much like the NPCs that are in game now, but only at a fraction of what you can attack at.

WHY ?

Some of you might ask, what would be the point in having something like this? My answer is this: If done right this could add a little bit of content in the game since the devs won't add an APPRENTICE / MASTER option to player characters see one of my previous posts on this. The untrained padawans are already in game and serve no function whatsoever why not add them as JEDI only NPC pet or whatever. People already have faction pets that follow them around like ATST's and the sort so the NPC pet system is already in game and could be implemented on these padawan NPC's The other thing the devs could do is if you completed this NPC quests with your padawan and successfully train him to knighthood you get 10,000 FRS or something. Then you release him on his own and then a timer starts and gives you about 4 weeks before you can train another padawan, when you finish training him you'd get a different reward after everytime a padawan reached knight, something like a unique crystal or a new power mod or something like that. If some of you have ever played everquest there was something kinda similar to this in everquest where a shadow knight could have a pet and as the shadow knight increased level his skeleton pet would also increase in level. If you think this is a good idea Please sign and add comments

Thanks

Also if you had something that you'd like to add that would be cool please feel free i'd love to read them.

like a pet jedi lol, thats actually a neat idea, a jedi to fight along side that won't generate visibility possibly. I'd still like it more if there were a master apprentice relationship between two players, but still, interesting idea.

Sounds sweet to me. I would love to have "real" jedi quests to do.

This is a pretty damn cool idea, and it's something I don't think I've ever seen suggested here before. Five stars for you.

Maybe padawans could also get Jedi Master pets

It would be amuch betteridea if you had used PC (player character) instead of NPC (non-player character). This is a MMORPG, not a single player game. The time to code this in could very well be used to create a working player/player-master/padawan system.

PS.: If I remember correctly, an untrained padawan ispart of amissionfrom the guy next to the fire at the temple of Dantooine and the mission is to kill him, I believe.

Gizmo I agree with you whole heartedly but i was told by a reliable source that THE PC master/apprentice thing that you first brought up would not be coming anytime soon.

by the way, if anyone is curious, that npc spawns from teh last mission the darkside guy gives you from teh jedi temple ruins. if you kill him you get a holo from the evil dude. but jedi cant take the mission and the holos are no trade no drop items...its from bck when holos could be used by non jedi...unless they changeed all this. anway thas what the untrained padawan is for..for killing
