Sony Online Entertainment Community Policies

An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide positive suggestions or comments and instead making negative and or disruptive comments.

funny how she is quick to post that yet she posts nothing on sonys policies of management communication and community relations i will be speaking to sony at some point to try and get a copy of there so called policies, cause i am sure somewhere in there we will have customer rights. Also tiggs for your information Trolling is also selling false information to try and get a required response not once have i seen soe admit to any of the faults in here to the community base no once have i seen you speak to the community in general so with this in mind can you at least be honest with us and tell us the truth about 2 things.


1. If you are anything to do with the community wich community is this as to your affiliation

2. If the above is not correct can you tell me what is your role in the soe and why if item 1 isnt applicable are you even posting in this forum ?!?


its not hard to tell people who ask what they want to know unless 1. you got something to hide or 2. they have no buissness knowing. Well we are the starwars community or so i thought and anything to do with a game we actually pay for gives us at least a bit of a say in it and at least a bit of regards to asking certain questions.


Are you know also saying that we are not allowd to vent our anger in here and if so were do we vent it a community should be allowd to stand together and pass information back and forth even if it isnt always kind. Also seems to me your saying if we have anything bad to say about the people we pay our money to our accounts will be suspended. Surely been a paying customer{s} give us a right under the 5th and any other none american amendment to A. have free speech and b complain about a product we are paying for.


Seems to me the noises in here and over the web about this game are starting to get noticed by the correct people now and the next stage is to keep us all in line and keep us quiet.


One last point to keep people quiet and to keep your customer base happy at least 2 things have to happen.


1. Relationship with your customer talk to them ask themwhat they want and dont want even if you dont give them it asking them and talking to them is key. Not a threatning post once in a while about trolling forums and accounts been locked.


2. Telling them the truth about how the game is going or at least telling them part of it not batently telling them nothing or saying things that just arnt true.


If soe can do these 2 things i am sure the forum and the starwars galaxie base wouldnt be so anoyed, mad or frustrated it only takes a little time to communicate and its worth so much

I guess I was mistakenly mistaken when I thought I could post my (IMO) constructive posts and dislikes , but I was mistaken I guess, so the Quiet and bans serve as a muffler to the issues and customers that made this game what it is today.

I agreed with the read before you post remarks but thats a two way street and a lack of any serious discussion with a Dev over many game issues is the problem. Each time we have a Publish update the communtiy teams go into hiding andthe forums go into full flame mode .


Communtiy need to communicate with each other not just flame or locked


Maybe today we will getto communicate :0

Garva wouldnt a way to end some of the hostility would be to answer some of the issues? Some detail oriented responses rather than deleting threads because they take on a hostile tone?


You noted earlier that people have a great deal of passion for this game. That passion is only inflamed when there are few responses to legitimate questions.


Take a look at the DEV responses over the last couple of days. There are not many that contain much in the way of answers. Most are about maintaining order on the forums.


The various profession coro's have been largely ignored. Communication is the key sir. Providing answers in a thoughtful and detailed way, even if we dont like the responses are whats required here. Not repeatedly telling us what will get us banned or suspended from the forums.


We arecustomers who are concerned about the product that we are paying for! SOE is the provider and has an obligation to keep its customers informed. Thats a fairly simple concept.



When I die I want to go like my Grandfather, quiet and peacefully in my sleep. Not like the passengers, screaming and yelling in his car!

Well can you please tell us what rights we have as custumers in SWG/SOE?

We are trying to get anwsers but arent heard, what do you think happens? And as far as iv seen it seems like many are canceling their account's and preorders on ToOW based on what has been saied the past day. And because ppl are loosing their hopes for this game. Ppl are dreaming about beeing heard. But it seems we are not...

I posted my reason for canceling my pre-order, perhaps you can too. I'd personally LOVE to get this game back on track, but with the attitude of the Dev staff over the past 9 months it isn't going to happen without help.

Garva, stop dodging the issue. Answer the concerns and questions, stop caopying and pasting this stock answer from some manual. it's getting old.



A rollback is coming, perhaps. We can't be sure, and the mods totally deny it, but IMO, that makes it all the more likely. Hang in there, it could come at any moment... All we've worked for may soon come to fruition...

I do agree that legit flames and trolls SHOULD be deleted and action taken against the posters (I have reported many myself), but when it reaches the level where people get action taken against them for calm, reasoned, well thought out posts outlining WHY they object to these changes, etc, is where I draw the line.

While those who troll and flame are responsible for thier own actions, once AGAIN, the lack of communication, and the lack of action on the part of the management regarding STRONG objection to these changes, and the insistance on once gain chucking them into Live just to see how hacked off everyone would get about them, is at least equally to blame.

My criteria for a legit "constructive" post is very simple: Does it make a point? Does it have anything to back up it's premise? Is it on topic? Is it free of PERSONAL attack?

Many posts which clearly met that criteria were deleted (including the petition). Couple that with GarVa's well intentioned, but not well received statement is what opened the floodgates. Had you left things ALONE, you'd have confined it to one board and one thread, instead of forcing things out onto other boards and sites.

Emotional energy is like a river. You can try to dam it up, but it is a natural phenomenom and it WILL ultimately flow somewhere. A good forum moderator, faced with a situation like this, finds a way to manage that flow, rather than try to pile more bricks onto a dam that WILL ultimately bust.

This forum (Jedi) is naturally going to be the hotbed for this. Every one of us who have a Jedi character are those who have spent a LOT of time and done a LOT of work building our character. We naturally are the most resistant and senitive to change, particularly earth-breaking ones like Publish 24.

Tiggs, if you really want to quiet things down here, I suggest that you go to the producers with what is going on, what the REAL and REASONABLE objections to the changes are, and get us an ACTION PLAN regarding what, if any resolution will be forthcoming and when it will be forthcoming.

What this incident needs is closure. What will be done, if anything? That way we know, and action can be taken one way or another.

I am just wondering if the censoring that is going on is "lessons learned" from the ExpPointNerf from the Previous Publish? I understand change is hard to deal with, but at the same time, when you are given abilities and strengths only to have them stripped away after every publish it almost seems like the Jedi Profession has a big SOE target on their backs.


I watched as a NoviceRifleman kited a Jedi and just used Ranged Shot to irritate him in a duel last night. Always keeping 50+ out of range and landing a snare or root (from pistol I guess).


It's so hard to pick yourself up, when you get your legs cut out from under you every publish.


I have to admit it's my own fault. My guild mates told me not to go Jedi. They said that I would be dissapointed. I did not heed their advise, because I viewed Jedi as the Profession, most people would strive for. Knowing that in every aspect of Star Wars, Jedi was the Crim de la Crim of Combat and Tactics. What we really have become are Younglings waiting in the Temple for a visit from Darth Vader. A destiny chosen by the Developers and the powers that be.


It's been 4 days now since I have logged in my Jedi. I have conceeded my hope that I would be able to fight a BH on a level playing field and win. Until that day comes, I will continue to play my other Characters, and not make the same mistake and Unlock Jedi with them.


Perhaps I will find enjoyment in making credits... It's a path I have yet to try....crafting

I saw a CM/BH literally keep a Jedi frozen for almost an hour. Snares and roots are now grossly overpowered if this is even possible, special drink or no drink. This new paradigm is clearly unbalanced, and will lead to the disappearance of any vestige of melee play in this game, including lightsaber based Jedi.

As others have said, if anything, it's the MELEE profs that should have snares and roots, to keep the ranged IN range (our range is only 5m after all). IF ranged are to have these abilities at all, they should be weak compared to melee.

Ranged has the advantage of being able to do considerable damage to a melee person from 35-64-80 meters as that person has to run the gauntlet getting INTO range to do damage to them. It is completely unreasonable to allow ranged professions the kind of "kiting" skill that they have now.

Pre-Publish 24 WAS balanced in this respect, kiting wasn't unreasobably overpowered, and melee had the ability to, via burstrun/parawan or force run to get into range and do damage to the kiter.

The Publish 24 "debuff snare/root overrides all buffs instantly" change is a poor solution to something (SL buffs) that would have unbalanced the previous balance.

Therefore, my reasoning suggests that the problem is in the NEW thing introduced that would have upset the previous balance, and any nerfing or debuffing should have been targeted at THAT buff. I'd have no problem if a snare automatically overrode a SL movememnt buff. But it should NOT negate the ability to use burstrun/parawan/forcerun to mitigate them. After all, a snare isn't a root, and shouldn't ever be able to be used as such.

Now, I don't know your exact "Job Guidelines" are,but I'm pretty sure it involves addressing the ENORMOUS concerns of the community, not making short two sentence posts that are designed to simply shift the disastisfaction over from the product and SOE over to what you appear to believe is a mental problem we have for not cheerleading whatever SOE does, just like the staff.


If you're too busy to do your job, then why do you work here? Does community relations involve pissing off the community? Ignoring them?I sure haven't seen anyone's concerns addressed by you, or any other SOE staff member.

A little honesty would be nice. Heck, a little competence might come along with it. How about providing some actual customer service? Give me a good reason I shuld renew my subscriptions when it runs out.

The point is Garva is following standard procedure just like Smedly, Tiggs, TH etc.



Ignore the community, ban and delete as many threads that don't praise SOE as you can, wait for it to simmer down.


We saw it with the CU< and we'll see it here again.

Taken from our Community Policies:


Participation in antisocial, disruptive, or destructive acts. This includes but is not limited to, "flaming", "spamming", and "trolling". "Flaming" is defined as: Making insulting criticisms or remarks to incite anger. "Spamming" is defined as: Sending numerous and or unwanted and disruptive amounts of messages. "Trolling" is defined as: Stirring up trouble to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide positive suggestions or comments and instead making negative and or disruptive comments.


lol, if soe would follow their own guidelines we wouldnt have patches at all, and we would be pre cu... every bit of the dissention comes from their unbalanced patches...and this miserable attempt of "fixing" the game....

Finally a thread where someone from SOE responds. Here are my questions.


1. Garva exactly how does your job work does the developement team not even respond to criticism and review their decisions? I am not a jedi so jedi concerns carry little weight with me. I am a MBH/MCH and quite literally my solo content npc bounty missions the bread and butter of my daily play. I cannot play when most people are on most of the time. I cannot beat these boss marks you put in call me pathetic but a advanced tank isnt supposed to win by dealing insane damage a advanced tank is supposed to win through attrition. I cannot do this against 1500 point regen, and when someone does find a way to beat them it requires on average to eat nine different foods use two force crystalshave a set of doctor buffs have tripple capped weapons, and have a unbalanced armor. This seems to be overly extreme. If someone wanted content this overpowered wouldnt it have been better to rebuild an existing dungeon with enemies this hard. I know I must be an awful person for wanting solo content that promotes my own growth as a character. Obtaining items like skill tapes armor attachments and the like. What other choice do I have now. I like my template my template is totally underpowered against these guys. I am barred from participateing in these bounty missions. Sure I can sit infront of them for hours holding them down but I cant scratch them just wound them one point at a time.


2. Can we get a better quiting questionaire the one we got is by no means a good way to convey what the cancellation is all about. The addition of a written comment section would help. How do I convey my problem of crippled profession template in light of the fact that I just have boxes to click. This is a supremely good chance for players who are dropping your product to convey why. Think about it if someone is willing to quit over something that something may need investigation.


Needless to say I have cancelled my two accounts and a preorder on mustafar. That is 60 dollars you lost, and perhaps another 60 total while I played on mustafar. Many of my friends are quitting aswell some are jedi others are totally overwhelmed by overly hard content. Please think when someone leaves they usually bring 4 other people along for the ride. This can only be good for WoW not for you.

That's fine and dandy, however lets both agree that communication on changes to the game are not being conveyed to the community efficiently and in result are tough questions you and SOE's staff are totally avoiding/ignoring. You and your staff need to be prepared to answer tough questions and not hide behind misinterpreted policies. It's an obligation on your part to convey this information even if it might create a militia calling to arms.


Let this be a lesson to you (Garva, Tiggs, Producers, and Development team) that if you continue to ignore subscribers like you’re doing this very moment, be prepared to go home hungry.Perhaps look at this situation as a humbling experience that you just cannot do what you want!All I ask and I think I can speak for everyone else, just listen to us as we listen to you and please convey the information back.Communication is essential for a better atmosphere.

No, Garva, Tiggs, TH, they will not respond. They areSOE cheerleaders, no more, no less.




A rollback is coming, perhaps. We can't be sure, and the mods totally deny it, but IMO, that makes it all the more likely. Hang in there, it could come at any moment... All we've worked for may soon come to fruition...
