Thread: What is the Rage?

Is the rage about Jedi getting nerfed?
About BH/SL becoming uber?
About lack of loot?
No.
I believe alot of the anger that people feel here is due to Nerfs. The constant, inconsistant, unnannounced changes to fundamental game play. You limit content (take out loot drops), constatanly adjust professions for no reason then spend 10 weeks of hotfixes to blanance out something that should have been throughly tested first.
The issue of Jedi is simple. When the game first started Jedi were very rare and most of the game centered around PvP. The the Jedi revamp first hit and you had to do quests to unlock, which was nice. Then the CU came which ruined combat for all other professions...so by the by everyone flocked to Jedi, which in turn flooded SWG with an influx of Jedi. To blance this Devs tinkered with various issues to "balance" the issues (take away pearls, tweek BH, then detweek Jedi, the tweek Jedi and detweek BH, then tweek BH support professions, etc, etc) All the while releasing expanisions (Alot of people dont remember how when this game released SOE said it would not be an EQ that required players to buy several expanisions to play, they stated that all additions would be added via the LaunchPad) that had several glitches themselves.
I dont believe for a secound the rage you see in the boards tonight is due to this one issue.But just like Rodney King, this one issue of the SL was the straw that broke the camels back afterDOZENSof hotfixes, servercrashes and empty promiseswhere the player based gritted its teeth and took the constant changes without question. The cops in the Rodney King trial didnt see the underlying rage that had been building in LA for yearsand coundnt understand the reaction from this 'one incident'. The people that lived and delt with LA cops for years did and BOY did they react.
Garva posted that people should take a step back. I feel that the only ones that should step back are the Devs and they need to seriously need to put themselves in the players shoes. The biggest server, Bria, down for weeks with players unable to play for hours on end. Unnannounced 'hotfixes' to deal with ingame 'issues' that created more issue. Changes that come with silly first year coder mistakes that break major in game play (Jabbas palace missing, key hotkeys missing). A Combat Upgrade that was really a Game Revamp in its totatlity. In game issues replied to by CSRs with form letters instead of a sincre reply. Inconsistant forum disiplanary actions (A player that calls your mom a name in the forum somehow get SWG Crewchief, yet a player that has an issue with a Corr and argues with him gets banned???)
I can go on and on.
Do you really believe that the rage you see here is simply due to Sl changes.
Or is a acumulation of events and now hundreds of players are choosing to voice their opinions in one voice of anger.
You wanted a post that was not flammatory in nature.

I was in LA during the riots and what I felt in the air that week and longer did have a very similar feeling to what's been expressed here in the past two days.
