Hello all. You may have noticed that this is a first post and I only registered today, so I'll give a quick run down on me first of all. I've been playing since Jan 05 now but never used the forums for much beyond reading, though now I feel like I have something to say, so here I am. I have a few characters. The main account is my Jedi character (and thus my reasoning for posting this here rather than the BH, Galaxy forum I play on etc - it also saves duplicating the thread) and they were previously a rifleman/commando. They're about 50% template now. My 2nd account is a BH/MCM combo. Before the boos and hisses, I'm a master CM to revive guildmates. I'm the BH for the NPC marks, I've never once hunted a player with that toon, as I've no desire to ruin people's games. I keep it now for the damage potential in PvE and the fact I can't be bothered regrinding. The Padawan alt I've not used too much yet, and my last character is a crafter who I share with a guildmate.

The post I'm about to give out is quite long, longer than I intened, so I ask for your patience when reading it. I'm going to examine a few things that have been on my mind for a while, but they're coming to the forefront now.

The Bounty Hunters:

Right now, they’re the Alpha class - the new squad leader abilities that some are picking up are giving them unparalleled power on PvE and PvP and often from what I’ve been hearing, many Jedi don’t have a chance to respond as they simply can’t get close (assuming they survive the opening salvo) enough to get a hit in.

The attitude of some BH I’ve come across is questionable at the best of times - many seem to think they’re some sort of server police for the Jedi and others seem to get off on giving grief to players. This is not how the game should be played I feel - if you play to grief, then you don’t deserve to be playing. Of course, I could say the same thing about several Jedi I’ve come across as well so neither side is completely innocent in this regards.

Perhaps the biggest complaint the BH make is that some Jedi hide in their homes. And I don’t see why they shouldn’t, given the current situation of probably 2-3 shot kills and the previous and existing flaw that they simply don’t get anything for defeating a BH. For this reason, I’d suggest a combination of several things I’ve seen mentioned - give them an extra mission slot (though why anyone would wait 3 days to kill another player, barring some sort of grudge, instead of moving on escapes me) and add in NPC Jedi bounties with the so called uber loot as the reward.

Now while I’m more of the opinion that the entire Jedi vs. BH system should be scrapped and replaced, it does take time to find a solution. Now, some BH seem to do this for the PvP, therefore to add in a new dimension, I’d say that if a BH fails so many missions against a Jedi (lets say 5-8 for arguments sake) then in the same manner as Jedi generate visibly to the galaxy, BH generate incompetence (for lack of a better term) in the eyes of the Bounty Hunters guild. Thusly, after a certain point, they appear on the terms as well, and the hunter becomes the hunted. The terms would have the same 3 week timer that applies to Jedi. I believe at the same time this would help sort out exactly who does use the system for PvP and who uses it just to annoy - if a BH finds being hunted themselves unfair, then it suggests that the whole argument that it’s their PvP right to hunt Jedi becomes weakened. Give it but can’t take it so to speak. This may go some way to balancing the system out again.

The Jedi:

Jedi are now one of the weakest professions in the game which in canon terms is something of a contradiction. It’s quite obvious to any rational individual that something needs to be done to help restore this class. Now as I’ve touched upon with the BH part, some Jedi have serious attitude problems. Among (but not limited to) freaking out on people about visibility in an immature matter, coming across with a holier than thou attitude and simply showing off to anyone who’ll watch. Again, the BH are not innocent in this regards either.

Of course we all know the problems here are deep rooted and not without reason. Visibility aside, the problem this class has is dealing with an attack from a BH when it arrives. The problem extends from the issue of the lack of good crystals/pearls for tuning, particularly for any Jedi that have unlocked in the last few months. In the absence of the higher grades dropping again, I’d propose 3 things to help:

1 - Sabers are a unique weapon in the SW universe. Thusly, they should have their own unique damage type restored.

2 - The base DPS of the saber hilts on all generations should be increased by 100% (using that figure for example purposes only, maybe it should be higher, maybe lower) - this would help counter the pearl issues.

3 - Saber block should be improved so that Jedi can use their sabers to reflect an attack back at the source. When an attack is successfully blocked, it rolls that either the attack is deflected away harmlessly, or it’s reflected back at the target. If reflected, it hits for 50% of the original damage, and if it was a state attack, applies the state to the target again for a timer 50% of normal.

I’ve seen population control used as an excuse for killing Jedi a lot though I don’t buy that since it doesn’t remove them from the game (nor should it - after that length of work and grind I’d hate to see anyone’s effort get flushed down the toilet) however I will agree with the point that it simply is far to easy for people to enter the village. I mean it’s madness, a new character can be force sensitive in less than a day now (especially if they have someone helping them) because of those Mos Eisley badges and since the Kashyyk badges are all classed as content, you don’t have to even bother with the theme parks anymore.

This I feel is the key issue to going some way to relieve some tensions. I’m not sure what you could replace the village with, so working on the current system, I’d keep the XP grind the same, but instead change how you get to the village - doing so by increasing the required content badges from 5 to 15. People have the right to play how they want, but it’s quite disheartening to see how many go for jedI from the second they log into Eisley without considering all else the game has to offer. An idea a guild mate had as well is that it’s tied to a timer, so that if you get all the needed badges, it won’t allow the old man to visit until you’ve been playing for so long - so you’d get a message like “You feel an inner glow and the force is with you. However you are not experienced enough to understand how to tap into this power” until, say 6 months have passed, so it’s like a vet reward.

If you like the idea or not, I’m hoping that many jedI and non-jedI alike agree that it is something that needs looked at.

Now those above there are just opinions I have to help solve some of the problems - the biggest problem however is us - the community. That includes the players and the developers.

The community:

The vicious cycle of hate has got to stop. It’s only hurting us. BH, Jedi in particular, but it applies to all professions. There are problems with the game; we all know that - but taking it out on each other isn’t the answer. We have to stop bickering and work together to help make Galaxies what it once was. Using phrases like “cry more noob” is neither witty nor intelligent. And I know the relations between the devs and us are poor, but insulting them isn’t going solve things. I would appeal for people to stand up and take the first steps to start healing the rifts, again particularly between Jedi and BH. Examples should be made of some people - but examples to be followed.

The Developers:

I have a simple request. Listen and respond to us please. Deleting threads that people are making about having no confidence in you, which, while I can understand if they’re resorted to being insulting or name calling etc is not the answer. Ignoring something and sweeping it under the carpet doesn’t make it go away. And threatening bans etc, unless they’re completely justified, serves no purpose other than to further drive a wedge down the middle. We need each other to make this game fun and to work. We need each other to fix this game for the better rather than nerfing it to within an inch of its life.

That’s my say on the matter, so I’ll withdraw for now and let people decide for themselves - do we want to carry on with this vicious cycle or do we want to try and turn it around.
