Thread: New Jedi....how do I not get visibility?

Ive heard now when in groups I wont, but if someone drives by on their speeder will that get me on the terms. I would just like some info on the whole thing to understand it more. Im gonna try to stay in the shadows always, I like to rp and really dont want people knowing me as a jedi.
The only sure fire way to avoid vis = Play your alt.
- If it can loot creds, then it gives visibility
- Vendors can give vis, so can shuttleport 3PO's.
- Anything that costs force within 32 meters of a PC or NPC will generate foce
- Dead bodies might aswell.

First - take time and read the sticky's at the top of the page - that'll help you more than anything.
In terms of vis - the easiest explanation is this:
If anything non-animal / creature (NPC, Players, droids, vendors, vehicle is rumored) is within 32m of you when you do anything that uses the force (equipping your jedi robes, lightsaber, using a power or ability, or attacking anything with your Lightsaber or power) you get visibility.
Visibility is like a meter - when you get enough of it - you show up on the BH terminals. Same faction NPC's give the least visibility, neutral the next lvl and opposite faction the most vis.
If you play smart and aware of your surroundings at all times, you'll likely stay off the terms for quite a while.
At the top of this forum is a **Read first** sticky, this should be the first stop.
Discussion concerning visibility.
Good luck out there.

Wow, I feel really jipped, jedi is weak, cants wear armor, forced in PVP (which I dont pvp), loose xp that takes forever to get and the person who kills you will suffer no penalties if they are killed. This doesnt feel to jedi to me so far. but then again Im an role player.
Tough and we dont need armor. Armor BEH what master defenders for hehe

Let me assure everyone that vehicles don't cause vis. I did my entire template solo grinding with my vehicle out and never got on the terms.I got my first BH visit after a couple of weeks of farmingcrystals off of NPCs.
yep, that 'vehicle causes vis' rumor has amused me for a while now. if vehicles caused vis, i'd be the number 1 target of every bh on tarquinas. General rules of thumb:
1) don't run around with your saber and robe equipped. having them equipped does not cause visibility, but the process of equippin/un-equipping does cause vis. the reasoni say not to wear them is in case you are attacked by something while around npc's or non-grouped pc's...lightsaber wll turn on and generate vis. as for the robes - well they are just ugly (sorry, no rational reason for not wearing the robes other than it broadcasts to everyone that you are a jedi)
2) don't use any force powers at all, for any reason, when within 32m of an npc or player (this includes attacking something with your LS equipped). force powers also include tuning crystals. do not tune crystals within 32m of npc's or pc's. if you are concerned as to what constitutes an NPC,my default answer would be touse theradar. if you hover your mouseover the dots on the radar, each animal/droid/vehicle/npc/pc has a label of either 'Entity' or 'Character'. If something is labeled 'Entity' it doesn't cause visibility (some droids, all animals, all vehicles). If something is labeled as 'Character', it causes visibility (some droids, all npc's, all pc's). Also be wary of some things - like the lost soul wookiee's in the myyydril caves - not showing up on the radar. if it looks like a pc race, it causes vis.
3) Before breaking out the LS and swatting pikets when you dismount and approach a lair, pause for a few seconds to make sure everything has loaded around you so you don't run into the problem of lag popping 10 kungas all around you while you are starting to swing at a piket.
a fewside notes- drive-by's will cause vis, but not too much....just do your best to keep your radar at 256m so you'll see them coming and can shut the saber down before they are within 32m.
be wary of group members leaving the party while you are in the middle of attacking your lair - some people just drop out of the group while you are in mid-swing. this will cause vis, how much, i don't know.
keep an eye on your radar...random animals and npc's will spawn on or near your lair while you are in mid-swing. try to shut down the LS and all as quickly as possible if the NPC's spawn within 32m.
That's basically it for my standard visibility avoidance plan. I've never been visited by a BH and I doubt I ever will until I choose to go find myself some visibility on purpose (but even if you don't think you are on the terms - live like you are - be ready for an attack at all times). Basically, be careful and don't rush things, remove your jedi attire far away from all npc's and before re-entering pc populated areas and you shouldn't run into many problems.
