Weird, you shouldnt' be getting killed. Though I assume you mean the whole lair is attacking you at once, that might be a little trickier. You'd need more healer or better yet someone healing you if you want to attack an entire lairs worth. Or try some Pikatta Pie so they -Miss- you more and some Synth Steak to help you survive that first wave of beasts munching on you.

I assume you are working towards getting Force Speed at some point. I don't even bother so much as a /saberhit without Force Speed activated. (though even then I'm sleep inducingly slow, like most all melee toons).

What kind of dewbacks? Cannibal and Swarming aggro. Use stimsif you are not already.

yeah, if your talking about being the main tank, use some steak or waffers when they initially come at you, it can be a little rough till get gets thinned out a bit.. I'm MLS enh 24x2 Def xx4x Healer 2xxx Powers x4xx, so instead of defender I use force armor and quite often I tank lairs, all about appropiate foods and timing..

I can spin lairs by myself - Mdef/MLS max damage 600. It's longer with level 81 or 82s tho.
