Thread: Pre-pub 9 Padawan returning to game after being gone for quite awhile, questions and impressions
- First of all, Jedi seem to be everywhere, its amazing to me.
- No exp loss from P v E death is this true? If so its a good thing for me as I re-learn the game
- Do we have to group on Dantooine and grind on bols and pikets, is there no rational alternative?
- Is there no way to solo with pet or droid and get xp?
The CU is Forced Grouping for fast xp gaining, At least it was until Publish 22 when the xp system was actually balanced and people could actually see the CU for what ittruely was,but changed back so SOE could make more of a profit. If publish 22 remained in place your SOloing would probably still be your fastest xp gain system. Though I guess I sorta don't mind the xp cheat system now in place since it must be okay with the DEvs that people do so.
Long story short, yes Dantooine spin groups are the norm to get xp.

My thing is I always wanted to role play my concept of jedi, which is to be all but un-noticed by society, and learn the ways of the force on my own...quietly...not in some spin group on Dantooine...is there any way to do this? In RL I am an introvert so...thats why I guess.
1. Yes, tons of us out there... in fact, too many.
2. No Xp loss is true, though the MBH's are quick and still come in numbers due to bugs yet fixed. You get loss from those deaths.
3. Dant is not the only good camping grounds. I level just as fast with a solid group on Talus and Endor. Though, nothing touches those bugged Picket bsaes with 40+ mobs.
4. Soloing is very possible, I like Dath/Endor for this. No player cities means no visitors, and the odds of getting visibility is low, real low. However, please note that even if you suffer a debt loss twice a night, AoE grouping on Dant still outpaces soloing XP in a big way. I spent 4 hours with my regular group the other night and earned 1.4 mil, allowing my to train a 2nd and 3rd Tier box before any MBH's could arrive.
As for the role play aspect. I don't remember Luke hiding from anyone. In fact, in RotJ he was quite open about his Jedi-Uberness. His soloing was to protect his loved ones from the danger he knew he'd have to face.

/nod... I like em both.... As for BH's just keep your surroundings in mind. I prefer Dath and Endor cuz everything aggros in numbers there. If a MBH is really gonna beat me, which happens from time to time, I run through all sorts of Rancors, spiders, etc hoping for aggro to fall on the BH, and if all else fails, I hit the mob base to pull aggro to me, so if incapped, the creature kills me before the MBH can DB for his reward. No debt, no loss, no troubles =-)
EDIT: And on Dant, you can have your group hunt out of a player city near a Kunga Village. Almost all vet players have negative faction for those clans thus running into the village during a fight can pull much aggro to the MBH. I've been known to lead MBH's down the Crystal Hunter caves too.

well if you like the endless grind, slow grind, endlessly, enjoy solo, endlessly . if you want to get a amazing exp, in a group which doesnt giveyou visibility, then suck it up, the game has changed"to much in the wrong directionfor me" go get in a sping group and get your jedu full templated before a mbh/mcm the new super alpha class of swg, who can out damage you by 50-200 pvt, and out heal you 4 to 1, and resist your lightsaber damage by atleast 50 pct, probably a lot more comes and kicks yourr arse.
my personal opinion, you left before for a reason, there are atleast 100 times the reasons to leave again.
Yo mate welcome back!
And yes...the jedi experience in no way at all resembles the Star Wars ethos...this game is really EQ2 in space lol.
