Last night i suffered a BH attack, was fighting him and then had the dreaded Crash to desktop, well by the time i got back into the game (just over a minute later - due to having to login, get to the load screen, exit (as it only put's you LD at that point) and then reload client again to actually arrive in the world), I was dead.
Sent a CS ticket but they told me to look in the tech support forums about game crashes and closed it.
I guess my question is, will they do anything about this - I don't really need the XP, as i was capped. I guess i'm just annoyed that the in game mechanics allow this to happen ( and yes i suppose it could be abused by ppl just pulling their modem or terminating the client from task manager) ?
Upon getting to a safe place i did a /logout and then ran the full scan, but nothing showed, i then ran Trefix.exe and bingo, data_animation.tre was corrupt . (has anybody tried making these files read only in between patch days ? ).
I think maybe they should improve the client stability (i don't understand how the TRE archives can get corrupted when they are supposed to be archives and not read/write files but hey ho), as this is annoying me.
I was actually enjoying the fight, and the bh's comment afterwards was i guess that saved us 20-30mins then !

more than likely you will get the typical "Sorry, but we can not confirm that you died due to a crash from our logs," and have a nice day. Happened to a former guildie of mine

SOE cannot see if you had a client crash, connection loss or pulled the plug yourself in order to avoid xp loss. That is why they will not reimburse xp, and that is also one of the reason perma-death got removed - SOE cannot tell if the player going LD was initiated by the player himself or by external events not under control of the player, so they lowered the penalties for dieing.

One time I was attacked by a BH while hunting. We were fighting and then my client CTD. I was so miffed, so I hurried up and logged, to see that I was dead. The BH that first attacked rezzed me and said he only incapped me, and that another BH later on came and DBed me. Oh well, at least no vis.
I rarely get crashes, but when I do it's always at the wrong time

What stinks is there are BHers that brag about being able to make clients crash, I've had one try it before on me, but I was cloaked when he tried it. I came back and he was spamming me with DOTS and using the cooldown timer bug also. Funny, he used 3 exploits to kill me and STILL failed. And he is a known exploiter that CSRs do nothing about.

I remeber pre cu when the CTDs were happening very often for people. I crashed just as a BH attacked me but still managed to log back in and still be almost full health(Thank god he was ranged). I miss the days of saber block and toughness
. I even ended up with 450 force rank

I had a lot of crashes to desktop.
I now run SWG in 'window' mode, not happened since.
May be worth trying if you are not already.
