Ask yourself this "Is Improved Force Sap worth it and could I live without Stasis and FR3?" If the answer is no to sap and yes to the others then pickup the 1/0/4/0 of Defender for the improved defenses and higher innate armor. Innate armor will give you better protection plus just Novice Defender will grant 30 to range and melee defense with the first box of melee defense giving an additional +20 to melee defense. Also picking up Improved aura gives you the 500 melee/range defense for 45 seconds and +85 to Force Defense which basically makes most Powers moves and other Jedi range force attacks worthless.
In my opinion Sap became worthless after the adjustment implemented with Publish 18 though it was a needed fix. In addition, the whole force resist line from Enhancer is completely worthless since states don't do much noticeable damage and the defenses provided from Enhancer against states is minimal at best. The inability to revert back to Force Run 1 with Master Enhancer can be a real pain in the ass; however, the speed with 2 and 3 are nice but not necessary. Stasis is fine and usable at times but more times than not somebody hits the person you've just stasis making it a worthless attack because they fired first instead of checking (or listening as the case might be) if the enemy was already mez'd. Also, regain conscience is a nice skill at times; however, the negative affects far outweigh the benefits of this skill to really make it worthwhile.
Lets see if I can't help you out here a bit =D.
First to be honest, that extra +12 Innate from defender if you drop sap isn't going to do jack. With FA2 on you have 60 Innate, which is about 48% damage reduction, switch to 72 and you have a little over 52.5% I think. Of course you a little extra ranged a melee defense, but I don't think its going to be more than 20 or 30 each. I used to enjoy sap when I had it, so I'd say that getting an extra 4.5% armor rating isn't really worth dropping your force bar and getting rid of a pretty underused skill.
As for switching over to a dabbler template, I personally have 3040 Defenser and 4402 Enhancer making up my defenses, and I love it, between aura and FA2 along with a decent amount of melee defense I do really well one on one. If a couple of people start going after me then it gets sketchy, but then again if you have more than 2 other players focused on you, then your probably dead anyways.
Hope that helps you a bit dude, if you have any more questions I should be on a bit this afternoon, or you can always try Rags his temp is pretty much the same as mine.

Ok my jedi is master saber, master enhancer 4040 healer.
In general I like the template, but the lack of defenses really irritates me sometimes. I'm considering a change and was looking for some advice from someone who knows a thing or 2 about jedi innate armor.
I was considering dropping the sap line and picking up 1000 defender for a little more melee defense and the 12 innate armor points. I've also been considering dropping from master enhancer to 4404 enhancer and dropping sap to pick up 1040 defender for aura.
Is 12 innate armor worth giving up force sap? Or do i need to drop master enhancer and pickup aura for it to really be worth it? Someone with some defender dabbler experience please help me out here, because I don't want to regrind xp for this stuff if it is a waste.
Thanks!

How often do you use SAP? If the answer is "heck, I forget I even have it" then by all means drop it. Unlike an inate skill like armor, SAP only does you any good if you use it. If you mostly PvE, for example, SAP is useless.
The def you get from defender may not be a huge bonus but it will be something that you atleast use all the time.
The couple of hundred in force you loose will not be all that big a deal.
Sap is handy in 1 vs 1 encounters, but usually when i pvp that is few and far between. I might start with dropping sap and picking up the 1000 defender and see if that helps some. Then I'll probably go from there. All I know is that FA2 by itself isn't enough defense unless im doing something wrong. Everyone told me that the defender won't be worth it unless i get aura so I'm trying to get a feel for this before I make any rash moves.
What does the first version of aura give you? not the improved version

Force Armor has been enough for in 1 on 1 against MBH's but I use alot foods to help out. Piketta pie, melee def food, steak and a PSG all reduce the damage you take. But if you wan't tank then enhancer is not the template you need.
Nov defender + FA2 will give you about 5% more migitation.
