Thread: Jedi and the GCW

How do Jedi fit into the Galactic Civil War? To be this is a very unbalanced system and also very half hearted.

1) Jedi initiates can't choose which faction to join. This is really annoying for those that are in an Imperial guild as you cannot gain any group benefits to playing with your friends. I know that Jedi are supposed to be mainly solo characters, but why should a Jedi player with Rebel friends be better off than one with Imp friends? Following on from that, it seems silly that they just float over to the dark side if they get the exp and choose to learn that skill.

2) Jedi cannot gain ranks in either faction army. Because you can't talk to a recruiter and can't 'join' a faction, you can't gain any rank or benefit from it.

3) Jedi cannot gain any faction perks. Again, because you can't talk to a recruiter, you can't spend faction on armour or other items.

To be honest, I'm not a dedicated star wars fan half as much as some of you guys and girls are, so I'm not clear on the Jedi lore. But from what I saw in the films, Jedi were very much part of the GCW, if not, the main characters in the war, so shouldn't Jedi be able to take part much more flexibly? Jedi should be able to go overt if they want to - you can't really say Darth Vader was any bit covert.

How does the rest of the Jedi community feel about this?

Jedi are not really accepted. Yes they can be light or dark but the empire doesnt really want jedi around.

Get with it! It is because the light side is the quick and easy path, now. That is also whylight Jediget a tree of powers in knight that Dark Jedi have to wait until master boxes to get. And it is also why they have more force power and force regen thanthe Dark Jedido through outthe majority of the profession trees. If the movies were anything like this game Annikan would have never turned to the darkside and there would have been no story.

Ouch. Talk about a scathing indictment. And very true. "the light side is the quick and easy path, now."

The Dark Side is supposed to be the quick path to power.

If the devs take to heart what's mentioned in the next Top 5, hopefully this will be fixed.

i agree with all but one point... dark get more force power than light... but light gets WAY WAY WAY more regen.

They have more force power at master yes. But light Jedi have more power as well until the dark Jedi gets way up there in the skill trees (as in very close to master). Take the knight trees for example. DJ get 200 force points per box and LJ gets 250! Both get 400 when they master the knight trees.

WHat I don't understand about Jedi and the GCW is why does a pvp add to my deathcount? I mean now with decay and insurance fixed players in gcw lose little. But a Jedi can only play for about 5 minutes and then have to log for a week.

Alot of people have been posting lately about removing jedi from the GCW. Now I have to say I don't particuarlly agree with that, jedi should be part of the GCW. Maybe not neccessarily running around killing all the non-jedi, but part of the GCW none the less. The entire Star Wars trilogy and beyond, and all the wars that happen all had the jedi vs dark jedi war at the center of the conflict for the most part. It would seem a crime to remove them from this GCW.

What I propose is this.... if the jedi are in fact removed from the GCW.... we should still have an effect on it, the war the light and dark jedi would wage against each other should have a sizeable impact on the overall GCW, I haven't though about the hows and the whats to this idea... all I wanted to post was this idea that the war between jedi should have an effect on the GCW.... And thats it... Anyone else been thinking along the same lines?

Covered in 1st paragraph.

But simply put in Star Wars nearly every major conflict revolved around Jedi, I see no reason that should be any different in SWG if we are to be removed from the primary conflict as it were.

anyone else agree with me that Jedi should be romoved from the GCW unless they dont want to progress in the FRS? I mean honestly if a Jedi is devoted to a faction rather than the force who cares what his ranking is? It should be treated the same way the respec process was treated. Get out or dont move.

IGNPC: How does that apply to Jedi? Jedi have serious penalties for grouping, so it seems that in the new system, the players who have in most cases invested the more time and energy into the game are finding it hard to level up on their own and attacked by bounty hunters when they join up in groups.

Dallas Dickinson: We are looking at Jedi. Jedi are certainly an area where we have some balance issues that we're totally aware of. When I see complaints on the boards and issues raised up to me about Jedis, they're valid concerns and we're working hard.

The thing to understand about Jedi is that it's a separate system from the rest fo the game and it's meant to be. We can address their problems separately, and we will. It should not interact as much with the rest of the population. If you know where we stand in the timeline, Jedi aren't supposed to be hugely involved with the rest fo the player base. We're addressing those and those are some of our highest priority issues. The Players who play Jedi are very vocal and very committed, and they're seeing a little bit of strain right now. It's valid, and we're working on those problems.

I agree with this concept. But until the FRS is reactivated, there isn't much room for possibility.
