Thread: TO TUNE OR NOT TO TUNE? THIS IS MY QUESTION!

First, there is this:

The "rare" pearls are simply ones which dropped from very high level creatures. What changed was that combat upgrade altered the levels of creatures. So where a pearl might before have been considered "premium" because it dropped from a level 287 creature, now it isn't considered premium because the creature dropping the pearl isn't level 287 any more.

The possible stats that a pearl can give you are the same, regardless of the pearl quality. The only advantage a "premium" pearl gives you is a better chance of getting higher stats. "Fixing pearls" would be a matter of changing the level ranges for different quality pearls. This would be a retroactive change which would suddenly change all the pearls in the game to be high-level pearls, increasing the power of Jedi globally and almost instantly - Unless we simultaneously lowered the advantage of premium pearls so that they don't give as much an increase to the odds of getting higher stats as they do now.

We would rather keep the premium pearls as they are - highly desirable and much better (in terms of the odds of getting higher stats) than normal pearls, but not drop them as casually as they dropped in the past. These should be rare, elite quest rewards and very high-end, elite-monster drops - not things that players "farm" from creatures that are no match for the player.

I have done the following with 6 crystals yesterday:

I got a isp.buff, put on my robes, reduced my health and force while kneeling at a shrine with a rabbits foot in one hand, a four leave clover in the other hand, a horse shoe hanging around my neck, 7 tattoos of the number seven on my chest while eating a bowl of lucky charms!!

My results: nothing above 59/-6.

Has anyone tuned a good/quality for 100+/-8+?

Did you remove ALL the crstals from your inventory which were over 60/60 before tunning? Place them in a private structure and fill your inventory with a junk load of lesser tunnings each time you are prepared to tune. Then stand on your head and wistle dixie in the middile of a freeway during rushhour. Only then will you tune over 100.

And yes, they tune over 100 about 1% of the time. That's 1% at each tunning and it's not cumulative.

i tuned a fair crystal the other day that was +78 damage and -6 fc. that aint too shabby especially for a fair one. Tuned a good crystal at +29 damage with -2 FC, go figure. Cant comment on premium crystals cuz well i havent been able to loot any form anything and cant justify millions of game credits to try to buy one especially since the chances of tuning something awesome dont seem to high.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

all that stuff about healing your wounds and kneeling at a shrine is a load of crap. At some point ONE person did that and randomly got an awesome tune so poeple went crazy and thought it actually helped....random is random....I am inclined to believe that Master lightsaber gives a hidden modifier, but I have no proof of course

Once tuned a premium to -1/-1 0FC...I even contacted a CSR about it as it was plainly borked, also pointing out that had I used it my saber would have been WORSE then not using it....got the cut & paste "WAI" message

Often in computer programs, the value "-1" does not represent a negative value, but the absencee of a value. If you recall back to the days of Pre-CU; "-1" use DoT items were acually unlimited use items.

Of course, the pearl may do nothing, but then again, it may do something very weird....

I never thought of this. If this pans out, I have a vault full of these I'll need to check out.

Yesterday in tuning 6 crystals all of which were 'fair' quality, I got a range of 44 being the lowest and 107 being the highest. With a FC cost of -2 at the lowest and -7 at the highest. Conversely , the higher the damage number, the lower the FC ie. with the 107 -2 and 44 -6.

I unlocked post CU and all my pearls and crystals were fiar or good when I tuned them. I can't tell you how many I have tuned, but it is a lot. I estimate around 40.

The ones I have in my saber are a 100 -2 fair crystal, 95 -3good crystal,94 -6 pearl, 84 -5 pearl. While these are not great, they are not horrible either. Most of the tunes I did are between 13dmg and 55dmg with crystals being more random. Pearlsmainly seem to tune between 30 and 60. I got a few pearls in the 20's and maybe 1 in the teens, but crystals seem to tune in the teens a lot, and in my case don't seem to have good force cost even when they do tune well.

While I haven't tuned one for 100+ and fc 6+, I have come close. If what the above poster said is true about the 1% good tunes, I have a lot of tuning to do, but in the meantime I'm doing ok.

I have not played jedi since pre cu, so I obviously cannot prove that, nor does it seem to make a difference post cu (from what ive read). But I can tell you this, pre cu I NEVER tuned a premium that didnt have at least decent dmg or fc....though I only tuned maybe 10 so it proves nothing. While I Was master lightsaber I mean, i never tuned one before....All of this means nothing post cu evidently because I remember very vividly tuning goods and fairs to -8 -9 -7 fc and very low damage, but damn good for a grinding saber. I dont see much of this hapening post cu, they definitely changed something.

I have tuned one "good" pearl to 102 dmg -6 fc, and three "fair" cystals to 89-95 dmg and 2-4 fc. i think i tuned about 40 pearls to get the 102, all of the crystals came from the corsair poi on lok. (probably tuned about 25 or so). As for tuning them, i just tuned them all in my house lol.
