It seems a bit silly to release a patch that nerfs an already disillusioned profession, just before the release of a new expansion. This has to greatly effect the number of sales of such an expansion.
It would have been wiser for them to have released the SL / debuff changes in a patch that followed the expansion. They then might have had more time to test it and balance it. Furthermore they wouldn't be in the situation they are in now, with somany unhappy people.
