I apologise if this has been suggested before,forums too fast to keep up with right now.
I created a new character on TC2 earlier today and was lucky enough to get on,i played for roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes and managed to get from Combat Level 1 to Combat Level 5 easily and without spending the full time trying to level up,just exploring,etc.
After i logged off to allow other people to have a go i started thinking about what this NGE version of the gme will be like in say 3 or 6 months time for all players,new comers,mid level and Vet's.
I think its right for new players to be able to level up from 1 to say 20 failry quickly, IE a few days for level 10 and say a couple of weeks for level 20.After which i belive the leveling system should start to increase in difficulty,so to attain a Combat Level 80 character for a new comer becomes the "goal" of the game to them and can only be obtained through the NGE system of combat,quest and social.Which means they get to enjoy and learn a great deal about the entire game and its content and not just "grinding" away in record time.
This would also from a business perspective keep the subscriber playing and paying, so to speak.
Then for the Vet's already at Combat Level 80, as you have already stated they can acheive Level 90,BUT if this is only a matter of following an easy to follow path or via boring "time sink" type play vet's will become bored too quickly and possibly leave unless the content roles out fast enough.
I think it would be a good IDEA to implement the mehtod of leveling from 80-90 as a very hard and secret path,via quests,combat,etc that are "hidden" and have great story lines,instances,rewards,etc.This would bring back the longevity of the game to many players i feel, a bit like the old holo unlock thing but the reward is simply acheiving something that ALL players and ALL proffesions can acheive if they want to.
If new players can acheive Combat Level 80 within a week or two, chances are they wont stay with the game for too long,but obviously they need to be able to level to a point fast enough to have fun and see a lot of what the game has to offer.
Yes this is similar to EQ2, but i think it will work well for SWG:NGE,you just have to remember its not a case of just killing hundreds of npc's to level up anymoreand that since you will be locked to your chosen proffesion you dont need fast leveling as you cant change your template.
For me i would love the idea of finding the secret and long path to take my Jedi to Level 90 purely as the challenge of it, and hope to see things in the game that aren't in the Game Guide section!!
I half expect this is what the NGE will be like as its copying soo much from MMO's like EQ2, but this was just somehting i felt could be a good way to go for the game and therefore have wrote it down.
