Thread: Anyone have a theory on how the glowy system got screwed up?
Conspiracy Theory - part of SOE's Master Plan to make Jedi a starting profession.
Realistic Theory - somehow when they added the badges for Mustafar it threw something off in the badge tracking used to determine glowy status.
Take your pick.

I cant figure out how in the world the last patch, the servers being taken offline, or anything else could have effected the getting glowy part of the game.....did they just turn it off?
Well...IMHO logically when one does the Obi-Wan quests on Mustafar you are forced to make a dark or light choice. My theory is that the expansion (even though SOE says it isn't) is going to in fact be the start of the new FRS. With that said, they intentionally turned off the FS system because they need to overhaul it and put the rest of the Jedi tree back in (ie Padawan, Knight, Sentinal, Guardian etc.) In addition, with the FS system currently down it slows up the progress of those who have not made "glowy" yet and allows for the population of existing "glowies" and Padawans to spread themselves out as far as progress goes.

The second one is more likely. The problem with conspiracy theories is they require you to grant far more logic and planning to the powers of chaos than is reaonsable.

are there any badges on mustafar that can be used for glowy status?
Probably, I know a bunch of the RotW badges were counting as content type badges. Almost all the 'kill X' badges were considered content, so Im guessing that the similar 'event' type badges from ToOW are similar.

Yea I think one of the fundimental flaws in the glowy system is that the badges that you need aren't terribly specific so whenever they add a new "content" badge it can be used regardless of the level of difficulty it takes to aquire it. The case in point are the badges from the Mos Eisley new user quests all of which count as content in the same list that includes things like Corvette and Warren badges even though the time investment and skill required to get them are extremelly low.

if thats the case, will we be able to not have to redo it when and ifthe frs comes back online? does make sense in your post though that this would be a start of the frs. but then it would forceall jedi who want to participate in the frs to have to buy it and that wouldnt be exactly legal from a anti trust sort of view. they are promised in the adds to become jedi masters from buying the swg game, not the expansions.....would be a huge false advertising charge by the TIA (truth in advertising) organization.
True about the anti trust thing, but, how many people actually have sat down, read the EULA/TOS and saved a copy of it to their machines? I admit I have not and hardly ever do when installing software. SOE can and may have easily manipulated it to reflect current game conditions in the past...wouldn't stop them now if this is where they are going.

Aye, then you get a bunch of 'newbs' racing toward Jedi without even exploring the game fully and seeing what the other profs have to offer. Heck, before I even thought about being a Jedi I musta dabbled in 10 or so different combat profs and had a blast with most of em.
