Thread: How do you look on Jedi PvP ( Discussion )

Option 1: You tirelessly swing your lightsaber hitting parts of the body like the arm or leg but not slicing it off until they cannot take the pain and faint, this is when your chance to deathblow comes. The HAM bar is the same as now, as are health crystals etc.

Option 2: You tirelessly swing your lightsaber at your opponent, but he is agile, and blocks/dodges all, until you get one hit in which e.g you hit him in the chest which kills him. The HAM Bar represents how long until you can get a successful hit in, rather than how much damage you are dealing to him. Things like health crystals would be things like to improve blocking ability or dodge ability. As the lightsaber of a jedi is meant to be lethal and kill in one blow. Blocking would be like Kotor, the swords or rifles would be made out of materials that lightsabers were originated. Eg. The Vibroblade, can stand up to a lightsaber to a degree. We could then get broken weapons we have a similar system in now, but through use, not dueling.

Add any additonal ideas for option 2 if you choose it and NO FLAMING PLEASE it is just a discussion

Which would YOU Prefer? I personally would'nt mind either, but option 2 would be more original.

Which do you think would be better for swg? Reason of this discussion is to find out.

I will update with any new ideas which fit into either catorgory.

Thank you.

lightsabers should be one hit kills, rifles should be one hit kills...but this pretty much screws the melee over. also, it doesnt make for a good game when you die every time you get hit.

One hit kill weapons (sabers and other weapons) would mean the end of SWG for about 70% of the population. If you want to play one-hit kill Saber fun, play Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. It;s not gonna happen buddy.

This is just the way games work... your hero / avatar / character can take repeated shotgun blasts to the gullet, grenades to the groin, hatchets to the neck, rockets in the face, and fall 50 stories.... thengulp downa roast turkey and be all right again.

Games with one hit kills are often frustrating and always very challenging (most "old school" games, which required ALOT of skill I might add, were this way).

Since I view it all as symbolic, I suppose #2 would be better thinking, but seriously... never, ever, ever try to make sense / logic out of a video game's mechanics as its all a fantasy environment with the goal being fun.

If you REALLY wanted to make sense of it all you would quit playing the game. Think about it...

SWG - An unarmed and unarmored opponent (TKM) can stand toe to toe with a skilled opponent wielding a powerful energy sword.

RL - Unarmed opponent loses a limb or two before he can even get in range with a skilled opponent wielding a sword.

SWG - After your opponent shoots you 3 times with his laser rifle, creating large, painful bleeding wounds and damage to your internal organs, you quickly inject yourself with a stimpack and keep right on fighting.

RL - After your opponent shoots you ONCE with his hunting rifle, creating a large, painful bleeding wound and damaging your internal organs, you quickly fall to the ground in pain and shock and die in short order without medical aid.

SWG - A group of well trained, well equipped experts of hand to hand and melee weapon fighting can take on a team of rifle bearing opponents in an open battlefield, absorbing / deflecting their opponents shots as they run into their weapons range.

RL - A group of well trained, well equipped experts of hand to hand and melee weapon fighting are shot down like clay pigeons by a team of rifle bearing opponents in an open battlefield, as they try to run into their weapons range.

SWG - While base busting, one of your team steps on a land mine. After shrugging off the blast, thenatural inclinationis to eliminate the landmines by running throughthe fieldto blow all the mines. As long as they keep healing fast enough theyll be ok.

RL - While base busting, one of your team steps on a land mine. After shrugging off the shock of watching your friend lose a leg, the natural inclination is to pull the team back away from the mines and figure out an alternative route around the minefield. And the first guy... hes probably not gonna be ok.

I can go on all day but you get the idea... none of it makes sense, we are just conditioned to accept certain unwritten "laws" of fantasy gaming so we often look the other way.
