First off, I don't know what happened to my original message regarding the 5 basic metric profs that appear for skill notifications contained in a certain file on your PC:

But here's a quick rundown. Every skill Notification is recorded, and from some examination, each notification falls into these 5 categories:

Combat (Includes Melee and Ranged profs)
Crafting (All Artisan profs)
Outdoors (Scout and related profs)
Science (Medical related profs)
Social (Entertainer based profs)

The holocrons are said to give "hints", as the Devs have stated. If the 4+1 Theory is correct, then the holos are giving you pieces, not "hints".

I proposed that possibly, what we're being given is advice to build a certain Metric within the 5 skill notification areas. The summation of the 4 holo profs given, taken together, are a clue to at least eliminate SOME of the profs left to master... to a certain extent.

Originally, I proposed that there are more things being tracked than just professions, and I believe this may still be true. For example, the same file that contains my skill notifications also contains a list of everyone I've healed, the type of wounds, and how many wounds. Why keep track of something like this pops into my head.

However, it may also be possible that these metrics can ONLY be filled by mastering professions, but each character is given a random amount to fill in each metric area, thus assuring that "each person's path will be different".

I've since gone on to further analyze that same data, and apply it somewhat to the Metrics Theory I've proposed, and there's some very interesting information which may or may not be helpful, but it appears that holo users can be divided into two groups:

1. Heavily weighted Metric - Two Elite/Hybrid profs from Metric area plus the base prof for that metric.

2. Variety Metric - Those given profs in 4 to 5 various metric areas.

whichever way it is, all it really means is a lot of work in all areas for the majority of people. No real predicition going on here except to... play the game!!

Except, what it DOES suggest is that if you're a 4 holo user, and you've been given two elites from the same metric and you haven't mastered the base prof from those elites, then mastering that base prof SHOULD unlock your slot... i.e., Musician and ID, then master Entertainer, or two Combat Elites (even is one is from Brawler tree and one is from Marksman tree) then master Brawler and Marksman.

I'm looking further into correlations between Base Metric + two elites/hybrids from that base suggesting masteries in certain other metric areas, plus a few other ideas.

The whole purpose of this exercise is to stimulate brainstorming and communication of ideas in hopes that maybe together we can come up with a workable formula as opposed to just a random assignment of professions at character creation (although the latter may be the case, and there IS no workable formula.

Taking the Devs statements that the "recipe" may eventually be figured out, and that holocrons give "hints", I'm holding out hope that there may be at least some method of minimizing the holo grind.
