Thread: Jedi/Dark Jedi skill tree!
Before you continue to read my thread, know now that what I am about to say is pure speculation. I don't know any devs, neither do any of my friends or family. This is me making upstuff with too much free time.
My theory on a possible jedi skill tree, inspired by the fact that "jedi" must fall to the dark side before becoming a dark jedi and the newly announced "double elite" class.

Jedi Knights, light and dark, would be the "novice" of a double elite profession. This would allow more abilities and more power (jedi are supposed to be uber powerful) and it also allows all skill points to go into jedi related things.
in order to become a dark jedi knight or dark jedi master, you have to "fall to the dark side" after first being a jedi. this would make sense if you go up from padawan to jedi, and then "'fall to dark side" and become dark jedi knight. It wouldn't make sense to become a light jedi master, and then "fall" to the dark side, only to become a dark jedi knight. So I think that jedi knight and dark jedi knight branch off at the same place. Or perhaps padawan will become a new basic skill, and dark jedi knight and jedi knight will be two separate jedi elite professions.
all force sensitive people have the ability to sense other force sensitives. Once you become dark jedi knight or jedi knight, you get the ability to sense between neutral force sensitives, dark force sensitives, and light force sensitives. in other words, you see someone and you can tell if they are dark jedi, light jedi, or merely force sensitive non-jedi.
padawan level 4 saber defense: ability to block someblaster shots, but few shots, if any, rarely return to do damageto the person firing at you.
Light Jedi: advanced force defensive abilities, such as force absorb (puts up temporary force protection that absorbs some physical damage, thus lowering the amount of damage your enemy can do to you), force heal, etc. Using "the force" to regenerate HAM bar.
Dark Jedi: advanced force offensive: force grip, force lightning, force drain (drain the HAM bar of anyone who is TEF to you and within range)
Jedi Knight and dark jediknightbasic abilities granted: ability to customize light saber colors, ability to construct double-bladed light saber, blasterdeflection1 (some shots *may* deflect and damage the person firing at you)
Dark jedi and light jedi miscellaneous advanced force abilities: level 3: force disarm: pulls enemies weapon out of hands(unequips the weapon of the target, and makes target unable to equip weapon for 15 seconds) another ability: saber throw1, force jump1(ability to jump distances and travel faster), force push 1 (ranged "knockdown" attack,)
Dark jedi master and light jedi master: area force disarm: pull weapon from hands of group of people around you who are TEF to you (doesn't actually take weapon, just unequips it) another ability: force area push (knock down any TEF people within range) blasterdeflection3 (almost every shot blocked will ricochet back to the person and do damage) forcejump 2 (jump even further to travel faster)
ONCE AGAIN, EVERYTHING IN THIS POST is PURE speculation. I made all this crap up. heh. i have too much free time.
show me the dev quote that says there won't be separate skill trees... and if there aren't, will light jedi be able to do things like force grip or lightning?

I don't think there is a specific dev quote that states there won't be separate skill trees.
The very notion that two different titles exist, Jedi Knight and Dark Jedi Knight, proves that the skill tree for jedi and dark jedi is different. EVEN if EVERY ability is the exact same, the titles will still be different, thus making two different skill trees to go up.
I'm not saying there are two separate and existing skill trees, I was just showing an example of how one goes about advancing as a dark jedi, and how one goes about advancing as a light jedi. I was not infering that you can become both, and if you read my whole post you see where I mention "falling" to the dark side as a jedi.
There have to be a FEW differences between dark and light jedi abilities, as far as the force goes. The dark side and the light side of the force are both necessary, but in no way the same. I showed two different skill trees to show how they might differ, not to explicitly state that two totally separate skill trees exist.

Someone posted a skill-tree shot, presumably a fake, that marked it off exactly like I thought they were going to do it...
Padawan->Knight for the first skill tree, with two mutually exclusive Elite professions (requiring Jedi Knight) branching from there, one heading to Jedi Master and one heading to Dark Jedi Master.
Me, I'm actually perversely more interested in knowing if Jedi will have TEFs to one another (or if the Light/Dark Jedi will have TEFs to one another) than the skill tree, but since none of it is available to us, and the Dark side is definitely not even in yet... ho hum!
