Thread: Jedi hybrid prof. Whats the future ?
Personally I think this would be an absurd change for the Dev's to make, and as far as I've seen, it's just a rumor anyway. The only evidence I've seen to support it is that it currently exists as part of the .tre files on TC. There have been no announcements that the dev's intend to implement it, and it's not on TC as of yet.
As to why it's absurd; it really wouldn't make a difference even if they did implement it. There is no penalty for switching weapons in combat. If you want to use a force power switch to your LS, then switch back to you rifle to keep firing. If you write a macro to do this you should see zero slowdown in actual combat. At present I run duelist stance all the time while using my LS, something that requires I switch to my rifle, then back to my saber. The only way this would be a problem is if every other attack required you to switch weapons, then you might get caught with some lag effects.
With the templates you proposed, you shouldn't have too many problems even if they do add this change. Rifles/Mdef will only require that you switch to an LS to run aura, valor, dominate mind, and ai. And with valor and aura you can just add that as part of the macro so you automatically unequip your rifle when it's time to reapply these buffs and then re-equip it as soon as they're running. I've never played TKM or Mpowers so I'm not exactly sure how you plan on using them in combat, but I'd presume you're looking at powers from range and TKM up close, so you should be able to make it work.
I just don't like all these naysayers that will tell you a hybrid template will be absolutely impossible. They can work, they may not be as "ub3r-l33t" as some people seem to think their full-template jedi are, but if you're playing the template because it's fun, who cares if it's not quite aseffecient as it could be. Any template played properly can be plenty powerful.
I'd suggest going the powers route since it's part of your plan anyway. With this, you can bank some xp as you play and if and when do decide to continue, you're already half way to your planned temp. I'm TKM, MPowers an working on finishing 4000 heal and this is a very fun and balanced prof. Was in the geo cave last night and had no problems with CL81 elites. Hands down, the most fun profession I've played post-cu. 
As for the mentioned change, I don't see it as a problem at all for this temp. Like mentioned above, with powers mainly being used at a distance, if a change would be implemented it would be easy enough to switch weapons manually not to mention be macroed. Thing is I don't remember this getting any backing of implementation or any comment from a staffer, it was just a hacked file so I'm really not worried. In fact, I don't know if there was ever a mention of hybrids being a problem or unintended. But at least this way, if it is changed and you have issues with it, you're not far from your target temp.
