I mean if damage can be calculated by a forumla, then speed can be too.... and since it has a formula then it should be obvious and easy to fix.

not as easy probably - the issue is not with the combat damage or the mod speed calculations - those are fairly easy to work out. the issue is the mod speed calculated (and shown on the examine page) is just not being applied when you wield the weapon. this implies its a bug somewhere other than the basic combat calculations - perhaps introduced when they adjusted the haste mods on the force speed buff and the pie?

either way the xcell spreadsheet crated by the guy that made those damage calculations is amazingly accurate and useful

Well it gives everyone a chance to see how thier weapon damage actually works. Basically your min-max damage is no longer what you can do in damage. It's an average calculated differently twice within the overall equation. So the closer and higher you can make those two numbers the better weapon you will make.

I guess that's why you will see sabers doing better damage when battling high CL creatures. The min-max is closer together than most high level WS weapons.

So I was wondering how weapon damage was calculated. I have had my own theory about why all weapons were borked in one way or the other when it comes to speed and damage, but I thought that if anyone knew, it would be the WS's.

Well I asked the question and it was answered.

(I apologize for the noobness of no clicky)

Obviously if someone, not holding a job at SOE, can figure this out then the other variables like speed and elemental damage can be figured out to. Then it hit me, the Dev's don't want to fix the modified speed problem for some reason. I mean if damage can be calculated by a forumla, then speed can be too.... and since it has a formula then it should be obvious and easy to fix. At least you would think it would.

Anyways here you guys go. Now everyone can see how damage is calculated.

That is excellent deduction, but I do think there is error here. I have it from a reputable source that all weapon damage - including lightsaber - is calculated off one thing:

DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN THE WEAPON'S TASTINESS FACTOR AND A PHILLY CHEESESTEAK (WITH ONIONS/PEPPERS/MUSHROOMS OF COURSE).

You heard it here first!!!
