Thread: Jedi population control: simple
As long as Jedi remains the only long term goal to strive for in the game there will continue to be more and more jedi. Not that I mind, but it seems to be something that a lot of people care about. The only way to curb the jedi population growth is to provide something else for players to strive for. It's that simple. If SOE's initial intentions were to keep jedi rare then they should of given us other options to work towards.

QFE
The best way to "thin" the Jedi ranks is to bring in more new players that are happy to be something else. A win-win for players and SOE.
the only sensible way to control jedi populationis to force them into hiding...saber tef will fix that.
think about it...

So I thought about it, and don't see how a saber tef controls the number of players that unlock jedi accounts. The point here is that SWG only has one long term goal: get a jedi. If players had something else to aim for the game would benefit from it.
you log in and pick 6 numbers.
you match the random 6 numbers that are generated,
then you get to keep your jedi or if you don't have one you get to do the village.
if you don't match all 6 you lose your jedi, or you can't do the village quests.
Revert it back to pre cu and a lot of people will be happy being melee stackers and riflemen combat medics.... No need to be a jedi back then.
Make jedi weaker than other double elites. That wayonly actual masters of tactical conflict, far abovethose with all the toys and crutches would play the class simply because it is hard mode with no excuses.
..oh wait.. ![]()

Someone suggested a while back that in order to get people to strive for something else, Bounty Hunter should be made into an uber elite class all its own, with its own version of "Aurilia" (something roughly equivalent) where you do quests and crazy long grinds and such to become an Elite Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett) rather than just a run-of-the-mill MBH. Of course, this would involve heavy nerfing of the "normal" BH profession, which I'm sure would TERRIBLY upset most readers in the Jedi forum.
This is a good idea, a lot of people have said it before but the chances of it happing is very unlikely.
