Thread: I have no reason to fight a BH. Alternative proposal enclosed.
If a Jedi dies from a BH that has that Jedi's mission, the Jedi cannot log back in for x amount of days, i.e. 3 days. The Jedi "profession" is the only profession that gives you a second character on the same server w/o paying anything additional. The purpose to having that second toon has gone away, so I say we need to bring back a reason for the second toon being there. The BH, on the other hand, needs risk added to their reward.
BH loses - Upon taking a player Jedi mission, the BH gets a portion of the bounty up front; let's say 100k for arguments sake. This deposit from his/her employer is on the BH's person, but cannot be spent. Upon engaging the Jedi, if the BH loses to a Jedi, the Jedi can loot that deposit off him/her and the BH mission is over with no paycheck. As for the deposit, it has to be paid back to the employer before the BH can take another player Jedi mission. NPC missions will still be available. And finally, if the BH cancels the mission, the deposit is sent back to the employer and the BH can start over as if the mission never happened.
Pros:
1) This will slow down the grind which has obviously been a goal of SOE with the combat and (attempted) group xp changes.
2) This "should" reduce Jedi showing off their stuff in major starports because ALL Jedi actually have a reason to stay off the terms now. (Hmm, we can actually play our roles appropriately again.)
4) Although the delay is basically the same as negative XP if you are a constant grinder, it does not have as much of a negative connotation (grinding XP you've already earned).
5) For the powergamers, losing 3 days will be more than losing 450k XP because they gain it back so quickly. I'm listing this as a plus because it slows the Jedi acceleration, but not in as negative of a way as regrinding something you already had.
6) Both have something to win and both have something to lose. No more one way street.
1) What if you lose a fight due to lag or get kicked out by accident? Answer: Too bad, that's part of the risks and 3 days is not permadeath.
2) What if you don't like playing your alt as much as your Jedi? Answer: Change your alt's template to something you like. You may be using him/her more often. Your alt is there to be something to play when you cannot play your Jedi. That was always it’s purpose.
3) (This one's for the Powergamers) What if my alt is a Jedi as well and they both get killed on the same day, now I can't log in for 3 days on either toon? Answer: Either learn how to fight better, designate one Jedi to stay off the terms, or the most likely answer for these peeps, if you're playing this much; I'm sure you have a toon on another server and/or another account. Play with those toons.
SUMMATION: We both have risk and reward. Jedi's risk is steeper, but Jedi are supposed to be stronger.
Addressing concerns:
BH loses to Jedi, BH cannot take another Jedi mission for X amount of time. This still doesn't give the Jedi a reason to fight the BH. Both Jedi and BH should have risk and reward.
instead of the BH's loosing xp they should loose money. losing money is what my proposal suggests. ![]()
those who think being hunted is wrong, can always drop jedi and go back to a "regular" proffession Not saying getting hunted is wrong. I'm trying to "balance" out risk and reward to make it more exciting for both sides.
I still dont see where you jedi are coming from regarding a BH penalty for losing. There has been a lot of friction between BH and Jedi, and it's my opinion the majority of it is derived from BH having rewardwith no risk while the Jedi has only risk.
We need to make the alt Jedi have mean something again. Adding the risk to BH and reward to Jedi to me just adds equality to our beloved professions.
Exactly, duh. If there's no reason for a Jedi to fight, why will they? You are right, but you have to think. There has to be a motivating factor for the Jedi to fight, otherwise we have what we have now.

i hate to sound negative, but i disagree.
when we took jedi, we knew we would ( at some time ) be hunted

The ONE TIME i dont like jedi Vs BH is sploiters n lamers, and god knows theres enuff of em.
But most BH are fair players, and are willing/good enough to play the game fairly.
they win, u die, u win they die. the only downside? a jedi gets nothing for a win.
which is why my MBH is for money, not for PvP.
