Just for all those non-combat people that are crapping their pants of not becoming a jedi:

The holocrons give HINTS, there is no requirement to actually OWN them to become a Jedi. When people collect these things, nothing stops them from posting all the hints offered by these holocrons on the forums. You do NOT need to have them to get the FSS. The hints might involve combat stuff though.

Have you considered that these holocrons are only giving hints that help the person carrying it?

Possible, but trying to derive a formula on a skillset is too complex. I think there's a global branched formula, that allows multiple fixed ways to reach the goal, or grant points to the hidden XP bar.

If that was the case then there will be a server ful of jedi's !

Ill tell you this ! everyone thinks these holocorns will be looted in like everyday ! i bet you 1 holocron per month or week or amount of players on the server ! dunno but ill tell u this its so common sense that if u get a holocron it can only be used by you and also u will need it to open the slot ! You think u willbe able to share the info with others ! "hey everyone who wants to be a jedi with me "
UH UH ! come on get serious .Devs r smarter than u think =)

Raph mentioned in the past that +80% of the players will unlock the FS slot. So there you go. I guess the perma-PVP go tintroduced over the TEF thing to prevent to have Jedis to take over the server and keep'em rare.

if a FS character can only buy jedi skills then what will that do to the server, where 80% of the population has an FS slot? i know i won't be playing my non-FS character as much anymore.

As the Devs stated time and time again getting through the Jedi tree will be extremely difficult. This will discourage most players and they will eventually go back to playing their old non-FS characters. Out of the +80% that will be FS, about 15%of them will actually have the dedication and determination to keep trying to get to Jedi Master.

Question is,

How many will actually be able to indure the long and VERY hard path?

Some people are not into the hardcore styles, just go see Diablo II, you have A LOT more casual gamers instead of hardcore gamers ...

I say that more then 60% will not keep up with the Jedi road and that is good, that is how they keep it rare ...

your forgetting that there is the twist of Vader and the cronies who will be out activly searching for jedi characters, and you won't be able to just log off to hide from them, after you log you are still ni the game for about 10-15 min more then enough timefor Vader to cream your jedi wanna be butt, thus dropping your remaining death toll.

It's not going to be as easy as people think it will be to make it to even the padawan lvl... jelous players are going to spot you and go for the kill just because they do not have the FSCS yet.

as to the holocrons I believe that the information they will provide will be specific to that individual, it might tell him to look skyward for his next clue then if you ask the same question it may tell you dig the whole reveil the truth.. as in the books the holocrons were esential the essance of the master that built them and were verey criptic untill you could decypher them.

the only way to open your FSS is to kill a FSS character...how's that for a theory? (of course the very first FS would have to be seeded on every server to get it started)

even if only 20% of the people who unlock there FS character decide to keep playing it, (and remember, eventually big groups of new starter jedis will form toghter and exploits will be found) that is still (based on 80% of players eventually unlocking the FS character) 1 in 10 people playing a fs character which is way way way to high,
