"The possible stats that a pearl can give you are the same, regardless of the pearl quality. The only advantage a "premium" pearl gives you is a better chance of getting higher stats."

Wouldn't increasing the quantity of drops of other quality crystals/pearls fix the problem? It would give everyone more opportunities to get a great tune.

Ever since I finished my template a couple of weeks ago, I've been farming "good" crystals off of lvl 80Corsairs. I see an almost perfect bell curve in the tunes. My high has been 87/87 FC-5 and my low is a 24/24 FC 0. Most are in the 50-60-70 range. The "quality" rating just shifts the curve towards the high end.

Also, those complaining about it being impossible to "construct the perfect saber" should realize that only a very lucky few should ever be able to do this. Otherwise what is the point of pearls to begin with. Eliminate them and allJedi would be on a level saber playing field.

I wouldn't mind being on the same playing field instead of it being decided on equipment

That would be fine if Jedi were balanced on the basis of the average saber. They're not, the balancing is all done at the high end.

I responded to this in another thread.

The odds are not 3:1 or 5:1 for a good tune....they are in the hundreds to one all the way to 1000:1.

So....camp krayt spawns andhang out atthe sister caves all you want. It will take dozens and dozens of 'fair' and 'good' drops to get a chance at a decent 3 way tune. (damage, FC, speed)

Remember....we don't need one of these to roll up with high numbers, we need four.

btw..there are no skills for tunage. It is what it is for every Jebeye. Hold you tongue a certain way, sacrifice mando wine at a shrine wearing your robe while humming "We Are the Champions"....it won't matter.

and who has got a premium tune lately...nobody...some get lucky and get a mid 80's but for anything above that is non existant. at least make soe prove that they are out there. so far i have known anyone since cu to get above that.

The problem is that they don't WANT everyone having a great tune. They don't even want the vast majority of us having good tunes. They want the 120/-9 pearl to be an incredibly rare result. Of course, that only helps those jedi with 4 of the things, and screws those who started post- (or nearly post-) CU.

But perfect pearls aren't what makes sabers equal. The many resource requirements and vast differences in their stats are what makes lightsaber different for everyone.

Now if everyone got their hands on 999-1000 quality resources, then there would be a problem of noone being different. But still, with factory produced normal weapons with hundreds of equal stats, why is it wrong to think Jedi shouldn't be equals in their chance of making good sabers too?

What they should do is implement coding that makes pearls and crystals only lootable by jedi. If premiums and flawless are really gone for good then the demand for the remaining types will skyrocket, as will the prices. The newer jedi are the ones who will suffer from this.

I think the "key point" to Tiggs statement is the fact that she hinted that Jedi who already have premiums and perfect pearls might lose it, which makes me wonder if they're going to keep holding off giving us the pearls until they nerf the other Jedi first.

Or nerf the other Jedi first and then say something like "Ok now noone has perfect pearls. You're all balanced now. Next issue"

That is the danger the longer it goes on the more likely they will resolve this issue with a nerf instead of a real solution. The FRS can't be fairly returned to the system without addressing the imbalance (Unless it doesn't involve combat which seems unlikely)
