Thread: Tiggs your thoughts on Pearls are flawed.

But you had to kill hundreds to get enough pearls to get a near perfect saber.I have a near perfect saber due to this. As a pre cu complete template jedi with a good saber I have a storng PvP toon. However there are many players with non-jedi that are extremely difficult to kill or imposible. They cant kill me however. Any two good players can generally out fight me though and will kill me if i continue going toe to toe long enough. This seems about right if you wanted jedi to be 1.5x more powerful than regular combat proffessions. However what about the new jedi who have sabers half as good as mine? In my opinion they will be significantly weaker than most well played combat toons. This is an insane reward for all thier work.I suggest making Sabers either non reliant on rare drops for damage and just make tem purely craftable . (we are a combat prof we must have good weapons) OR bring back premium pearls or increase the chance of tuning goods to premium chances.
Pre CU you spent from 15-30 minutes on killing one Krayt, Unless you brought 1 or 2 jedi with you! while post-cu you spent 2-6 minutes on the same krayt.
Also, the changes for losses where higher in the pre-cu becuse the fight lasted so long.
On the forum straight after the CU i saw people selling like 50 "good" graded pearls in bags.. This have slowed down heavily because good grade pearls are not the same as premium grade pearls. or even flawless. but if they started to drop prems/flawless again, people would sell pearls in quantities and not as single pearls. The price would plummit so fast and make them "common". So, getting pearls have become easier.
And thats why SOE and Tiggs are looking into new ways of bringing them back without destroying the uniqueness in them.

sorry to tell u this skwall but premiums and flawless do not drop at all...none....zero....zilch
so no the "newer" jedi dont have a chance right now

With all the given jedi out right now, and the lack of pearls/crystals, jedi would indeed dominate this game (to the point where I'd want to quit) if they were all to get pearls.Basically, the limit on jedi isn't in numbers, its on power/viability. You can become a jedi rather easy, but the true way of limiting jedi is to limit the power they have, which in partly is FRS. The devs want you to "maybe" kill a mob, and "maybe" loot a premium, and "maybe" tune a good pearl. And it makes sense. For all of our sakes, Tiggs way of jedi/population control is best. And BTW, there are still mobs out there dropping qualities and on very rare occasions, premiums...
Then you would be willing (for the sake of balance) to have your saber nerfed right? No..I didn't think so. So its not really about balance because power only in the hands of a few isn't really balance its elitism.

The problem with your theory is that your'e saying that SOE is trying to limit power, but only to the new players, which are the same ones that keep the game going.
I don't think even SOE is THAT stupid.

I'm baised of course, so No I don't think it should be nerfed (even though Tiggs has already hinted that it will).More importantly, things change in this game often from time to time. You have jedi who were unlocking pre-pub 6 at 5 master professions whereas at the end of 9 it was taking all 32. You have jedi who were permadying whereas now there is no penalty to death. You had jedi who were getting ganked by 5 Bhs under the old system whereas now that has been fixed. You had Jedi that took a couple months to grind solo grind missions to complete their template where now I know people that go up lines in a manner of days.Do I expect to be compensated for the stuff that has changed? No. I don't cry nerf onto anyone else nor do I want them to be called on me.In reality, because the majority of jedi don't have good sabers, they will probably end up getting their wish and have everyone's nerfed yet again. By that time, I can't gaurantee how I, or other veteran jedi will feel about this game, especially after the last Marbari Nerfs.
I don't want you to be nerfed. I fear you will but I don't want it. But the power differential between current sabers and pre-cu sabers will have to be resolved. Supporting not adding back in better pearls or some other change that balances it you are in fact asking for a nerf to pre-cu sabers whether you want to or not.
yeah they should make a pearl drop named "tiggs" and it will never tune better than -10/-10 dmg +25 fc....

I don't know where you came up with this, but its wrong. Jedi, more then ANY other profession in the game depend on their weapons in order to survive. Jedi is the only profession where you can be minding your own business and all of a sudden are in a fight for your life. Why don't you tell me what us new jedi with weak sabers are supposed to do vs mcm/bh's when are attacks are little more then a tickle against them, hmm? What do we do?
Attitudes like this make me sick.
There is nothing you can do unfortunately so I hope you guys have Master enhancer for stasis and FR3

Oh they'll do something, eventually, or they'll lose customers. At some point, when all the bh's out there have uber weapons, ab sliced armor and mad healing capabilities, the newer jedi will get fed up of getting their butts kicked by them and then gettting pwned in pvp and frs against older jedi and they'll quit. I mean what else can we do really?
It's not a matter of learning how to play the game, because skill doesn't really matter that much when you have a cdef saber that couldn't even give someone a sunburn.
