This is simply a functional idea in the interim until they find a favorable way of implementing permium loot drops. It would be a rare loot schematic like the resource recyclers, and you combine crystal or pearls of the same quality to achieve an item of a higher quality.
The item is a container, and it would function much like a shipwright RE tool...you drop set number of items in, combine, and an item of higher quality is generated. For agrument sake...
6 Fair crystals or pearls would combine to generate a Good.
5 Good crystals or pearls would combine togenerate a Quality.
4 Quality crystals or pearls would combine to generate a Select.
3 Select crystals or pearls would combine to generate a Premium.
2 Premium crystals or pearls would combine to generate a Flawless.
The items would have to be untuned inorder to be combined to a higher quality crystal or pearl, and you could even add a minimum force requirement per level of the crystal/pearl inorder to gate the process to the level of the Jedi. I'm not sure if this idea had been passed around before,so I decided to throw it out because we don't have anything else going for us a the present time.

Doh! I knew it was sounded rather familiar as I was typing it out, but it's not like there are a ton of original ideas anymore... especailly in gaming.

oh man that made me laugh (not in a bad way). Mebe I can get my lv 80 neco onto SWG and really wreck some havoc

Good idea but I see 2 problems, 1 fixable and the other not.
1) Amount of pearls that would be required to make 1 of the next level is too LOW. There are still peopel that have premium pearls and under your system they would have a flawless pearl thats is supposed to tune perfectly. The numbers might need to be tweaked a little. Maybe 15 premium pearls to get a Close to Flawless pearl, that Tunes better than a premium.
2) With this system it now puts the jedi back in the drivers seat as far as PVP is concerned, so about a week into it some FOOL will complain about not being able to beat a Jedi and then THER GREAT NERF OF JEDI CONTINUES!
I do like the idea though.
