Almost every post I see in these forums lately are about how jedi lost all its power and is no longer an alpha class.
I ask my fellow jedi to think about this logically, what would SWG become if Jedi still had the power that they had pre cu? People who think that pre pub nine was the answer are fooling themselves we would still be over run with jedi even if the system never changed. Power gamers want power and even though there are some that would have taken considerably longer then others there would still be almost as many jedi out there. Once the devs killed perma death thats when the jedi population would inevitably explode. Now there is nothing they can do but level the playing field.
I know that it took some of you months and possibly years to make your jedi, but the fact of the matter is how could this game possibly be fun for anyone else if we were still that strong. I know there were a handful of people out there that could dispatch jedi pre cu but not many and I was certainly not one of them. PVP was DOMINATED by Jedi pre cu and the population was half of what it is now. So imagine if you never unlocked and had to face a legion of jedi everytime you went out to pvp what you would do. Probably cancel, I know I would.
I have wanted to be a jedi since I first logged in almost 2 years ago but I decided to experience the rest of what the game had to offer first. Now the many of the "old school" jedi say we (the new generation jedi) ruined the game for them. Well in some respects they are right, the population explosion of jedi could only mean one thing a jedi's loss of power. I am sure I will get 20 something replies saying "I am not even as good as a BH/MCM and I could grind that in 2 hours with my eyes closed", well guess what you have a free character slot on this server and if all you really want is power then grind your new toon.
Some of us are avid star wars fans and want to be jedi not for power but because that kid inside us that grew up with star wars always wanted to be. Do we like the nerf's anymore then you do? No we don't either. But what you have to realize is that they are necissary. Imagine if we all had Saberblock at 75% or whatever it used to be, imagine if AI still worked as it did, imagine if pre cu there were as many jedi as there are now. That would be the death of this game, a cash cow for sony that is enjoyed by millions. Those of you that say "I don't enjoy this game anymore" really need to look deep down inside and ask yourself why you still play if you don't like it anymore. I am not telling anyone what to do or how to play their toons, I want to make that clear, I just want my message to be heard that or loss of power was a necissary evil.
I do think there is still a lot of work to be done to our profession and others so that there is balance across the board. We may never achieve a perfect balance but I, like many, will be along for the ride.
