Thread: A few notes... a brief summary of fact and theory. The Future of SWG.
->SWG will be on a console. I am confident that it WILL be on XBOX and fairly sure PS3. I made a post of this in the originall Starter Kit thread on expansions that the console was coming and this would be the start, and a few have already claimed to witness seeing XBOX advertised SWG on the console for 49.95 however this price is for the modem i believe to hook up to xbox live, not for SWG. But it will happen and it is the reason for SWG simplified UI. The most star wars you will see is in the first 30 revamped levels and that is all.
->SWG will become a free mmorgp, as in no monthly access fee's, however you will pay for expansions and also for higher end loot and items. This was not my idea but others who made this discovery and shared this on the forums. They have already seen how profitable it is to sell in game merchandize and SOE and Lucas Arts know this is NOT going away. Ebay is getting rich off its licensing and since they know auctioning in game items is not going away, they want to profit naturally.
->Jedi will be EVERYWHERE. If you thought CU1 was bad with JEDI.. wait.. just wait til this goes live. It WILL be jedi academy. Yes i have a jedi but this is just disgusting. They inhabit 80% of test currently and that is sad, but predictable. Devs will not limit jedi because being jedi is the most desirable profession and it pays the bills to allow everyone to be whatever they want.
->CL-80->90 is a difficult and lengthy journey. At 60xp or so per kill and 4m of xp... That is the equivalent of.. ohh 70m of cu1 jedi xp, which was/is about 1000 per kill. A full temp jedi was 36m skill points for double mastery. Sooooo.. ohhh...and you dont get the Jedi tag til u hit cl 90, just Master Swordsman... So you will not see any profession tags that say Jedi for a ... umm.. looooooooong time, but everyone will still have a lightstick after level 30.
->The roleplayers will still be able to do their thing since not much will have changed. They will even play for free eventually since rp'ers dont necessarily need to buy special weapons since the point is to be roleplaying more than pwning with uber gear. And Pvp'ers will find themselves spending their previous 15-30 bucks previously used on game subscription that they will buy better loot from L/A and SOE. And since the subscription will be free.. more people will play and want to buy the better loot to be on a level playing ground with other pvpers.
->Gamespot made a comment referring to SWG doing 'something' that would revolutionize online gaming. This is it. I think they, meaning Lucas ARts and SOE, that this in the long run would be the best stragegy for reducing costs (9 professions all with same skills a 2-3 man programming team and artists and a few customer service and such .. maybe a staff of 10 or so per game... and then have one main customer service hub for all of the station games.
->The simpler interface IS going to allow the transition to consoles and allow the younger AND older audiences who are not mmorpgoholics can still jump in and play while the fps pvper types will get used to the new more interactive combat style that requires a lot more finesse and twichyness.
THIS IS THE FUTURE OF THIS GAME. I DO NOT CLAIM TO BE THE FIRST ON THIS, BUT THIS IS A CONSOLIDATED VERSION OF EVERYTHING TO DATE. IF I MISS SOMETHING POST IT AND I WILL EDIT THIS TO INCLUDE. (oh, and i am going to continue to play).

1question though,i dont think they could intergrate XBOX 360(not sure of PS3 being its a SONY product) where we would actually play on same servers as our console counter-parts.i think they would have to make seperate servers than the PC's for the fact of patches.I know that the everquest version that was an MMORPG on the PS2,stored all the patches and updates on its own servers.The only thing kept in the actual PS2 was char info.
My question is this was the Final Fantasy Online MMORPG that was on PS2 eqp/with HD's,and the PC version did they run on same servers together?I hope so,because that would mean chances are we would be the second coming of Final Fantasy as far as console and PC players can play together.If not i fear the PC version would soon come to an end due to the lack of players=/.In the end its all about money and if its not in the best intrests finacialy to keep a project going.They wont.

As far as i know, and i am using EQ1 and ps2 as an example, that you would need a separate server. I cannot see a way to have console players on the same server as pc users. However, Lucas ARts and SOE did not want to run 2 different games so they chose to abandon the existing servers and their dedicated players in trade for a few servers of console players. Obviously from my tone here you can tell i dont like this, I would have preferred precu1 or 2 and just fix a few things. Oh well.

Awesome if thats the case im sure the same will be done on PS3 think they come factory with hard drive which means it could store the patches thus enabling us to play on same servers.If its like that SWG will be around a long time to come.Final Fanatsy was like a Pokemon online game,that burst from the seams once the console crowd hit the servers.yes there is actually that many people that dont play the game for 2 reasons
(A) dont want to pay monthly fee; example the sucess of the free MMORPG Guild Wars(hated it lvl'd fast, got bored fast)

None of these changes really scare me into leaving, however i might get tired of the constant changes and if a new / better game arrives.. dark and light? then i will leave. Until then... we shall just have to see what happens.
